Timing Questions
Alright guys, I have a timing kit now, and Im gonna be timing a truck here pretty soon... I think I pretty well have it figured out how to do it, but I have some questions. I will be going higher with the timing than what this chrat shows.

I will be timing a 180hp motor. Some of the timing on there is weird numbers, they dont go up in even increments. Like 4.61, and 4.53... What do you guys do about going up in increments past the 16* it shows? Just proceed with 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, etc, or what? Also any other tips or tricks for timing would be helpful. Thanks!

I just go up in the .1 increments personally, maybe it is a little off but that is the only way I have found to "guess" it. I would make sure you mark something permanently once you find TDC just for ease should you need to re do it or change it. Also make sure you clean the shaft really well before pressing the gear back on or it will slip on you. Double check your timing before you bolt everything back up (that has bitten me before
)
That is about all that I can think of, not too bad of a job to do
