timing question, curious about the answer
timing question, curious about the answer
Guys,
i know that the 215 pumps make just that, 215 horses stock the way that they are calibrated at the factory at what is 12.5 degrees. They also make their peak tq at 1600 rpms. I have read and studied the little graphs that are in the cummins pages on dodgeram.org, and have lead myself to this conclusion, Yet i dont know how valid it is..
Am i correct in thinking that when the timing was bumped in my truck to 16.5 degrees, that my peak tq no longer occurs at 1600 rpms? If moving the timing wakes up my truck after 2000 rpms, i do know that my hp curve moves, is it a direct link also to the tq curve as well? or does my peak tq still remain at 1600 rpms, with the tq curve rising much faster than what it does at stock with the higher timing....
Thanks guys and im sorry if this is a brain buster. I know that a dyno sheet with tq numbers would be the best bet, but i wasnt able to get mine, just an estimate, and then hand calculations...

Not to highjack the thread but wanted to ask ***** a question about his 28* timing. How many other timing sets did you try before deciding on the 28? Also, what recognition did you receive in school the other day?
I heard that you came out on top of the heap so to speak. Great job, keep it up!
