time for more mods: injectors?

Time for more mods...

time for new clutch, thinking SB con OFE?
then I can add #10 fuel plate, 3GSK, timing
probably a 4" exhaust

at 194K local shop says probably injectors?
they sell BD--any others to consider?

I"m setting up for towing...goal (of course) max power with no egt problem and decent fuel mileage...
thanks

Personally, I hate the 10 plate. Never liked the lack of top end. Get passing someone and then it would lay over. I would take your stock plate and grind it to a 0 plate, or remove it entirely. When its time to tow, its only a 5 minute job to swap plates.

As for injectors, lots of options out there. I've heard lots of great things about SDX, and I have a set on order right now for my 24v. They are about half the price of DDP.

I'm running a #11 plate now
(why 11? cuz on the TST site they showed a graph that I interpreted as ok for my truck without adding a new clutch )

when I'm towing I want a plate to regulate my egts without me watching every minute..thought "everybody" runs a 10 but thanks I'll reck that
yes having some passing power would be nice, but hoping my 3gsk helps some with that issue

NO plans to change my turbo, so injectors between 40-60hp ok
have to look at the fyi's...once you break them loose, how hard are they
to install correctly?

Those with enough turbo can use the 0 plate or no plate. I really don't have a problem with #10 myself. And like you said, the 3GSk really stretches the #10 out anyways. I get good power well into 3K+ so I'm happy with it.

And Injectors are the next step. The #10 itself is fine, but the low end punt of the injectors can't be duplicated.

I found it with the 3k, that around 2400-2500 rpm, the plate was starting to pull back the fuel. You can still pull to 3k, but it doesn't pull nearly as hard. Even on a stock turbo with 140 injectors, I didn't like it. Thats why I'm running a 0 plate in it now.

Injectors are easy to swap. Just remember to keep everything clean. Probably about two to three hours for the first timer. Just use a lug nut to put on the body and I use a wrench to pry them out.

I guess I don't have enough power to feel the difference. I pull out to pass and it pegs me to the EGT/Boost limit until I reach into the 3K mark up to about 150 Kph.. er ah, not on the legal roads..

I think your turbo is hurting you. I usually am cresting 1500 degrees at around 160-170 km/h. I did the 1/4 mile at about the same temps, which was pretty surprising. I thought it would have been buried long before the finish.

I'll be happy to pull the hills at more than 25-30mph, I'm not going to be passing anybody when I'm towing

not upgrading turbo
local shop recommending BD 40hp injectors,
ddp has a 40-60 set, smx I guess I'd be looking at stage I ?

I'm thinking to do the injectors, fuel plate myself
definitely clutch, gsk at the shop
saw a tool to do the timing, but I'm guessing I should just
have that done at the shop for the best results
(timing =$150, same price as the tool)

any reason not to do the injectors myself?

The only time you run into issues is if one of the injectors are siezed in the bore. But some penetrating oil on the injector body and some time they should be good to go.. I did mine in an evening.

thanks, I'll definitely give the injectors a try.
BD 40hp injectors cost $575 + $150 to install at my local (wellrespected)shop
so its a chunk of change if i can do it myself.
the plate they charge $225 installed, but they would drop one in if I supply it since they'll be in there already (ebay, $30)

my clutch comes with a reman flywheel, I assume this is too complicated for me to install? (but it would save me $500 if I knew what I was doing)
...i'm wary of the gsk and having them do that (darn washers and all)

I just installed DDP stage II injectors Tuesday evening. It took me 4 hours, from start to finish.

Water/methanol will help cut the high egt's some and when you use 50/50 water/methanol you'll pick a few ponies. Its kinda a poor man's twins turbo. If your still pouring out black smoke once the turbo is fully spooled up, you'll need more turbo, at that point water/meth isn't going to help to much for power.

I know you want 40's, but these are a bunch cheaper.
