thuren crossover kit

Can anyone tell me what all this kit comes with. Debating between this and the 03 track bar swap and I looked on their site and its pretty vague. Leaning more towards this but want to know what I'm getting.

I'd like to know more about this too, particularly I'd like to know why they say our trucks need a bent bar. Looks to me a straight bar would work.

The steering kit comes with a tie rod, drag link, heims, bolts, nuts and flat and safety washers. All you'll need to do is bore out the knuckles and pitman arm and bolt it up. 3/4 bolts call for 300 ft/lbs, and the pitman arm is a cast iron &*#@% to drill out, I'd suggest putting it on a drill press.

Bent bar is for those of you who want to keep your sway bar....I know for a fact you'll need the bent bar for a 96 unless you want to hack your sway bar mounts off the axle.

Can't recall if there's a clearance issue with the later years.....

What is the purpose of this kit? Just to replace the stock stuff?

Yep, and it is rebuildable....and A LOT TOUGHER than the stock junk!

I've got the Crossover Steering and ThurenFab Tracbar...once I get the truck aligned properly, and fix the steering box I hope the steering is fixed!

One thing about the crossover steering...once you get it on, you'll find what else is bad because those parts are nice and tight!

So you bought the crossover kit AND the trackbar?

What I mean is, you have to buy them separately- they do not come together, correct?

Which bar in the X over steering is bent or are both bars bent. I take it that you guys that have these are using them on street driven trucks, right. Has anyone had any trouble getting them past inspection?

Yep, street driven, no steering dampner!

Don't have inspections in OH!

The bar that runs between the two wheels is the bent one! Not a very big bend, just enough to clear the swaybar mounts!

I wouldn't see why it would make a difference with inspections. They probably wouldn't know the difference.

Man I'm feeling a little thick here. If the cross bar clears everything from side to side in a straight line why does it need to be bent? The sway bar brackets are welded to the axle, so as the axle moves and the steering cross bar moves so does the sway bar mounts. Not trying to beat a dead horse here, just that I am going to make up my own cross over steering soon and would rather not try to bend 1/4 inch wall tube unless it is absolutely necessary.

The axle doesn't move It and the sway bar brackets are stationary, while the drag link moves in front of them!

Yea I get what you mean. I guess I'm not being clear. Thuren's web site says that the sway bar brackets causes a clearance problem for the straight cross over bar but I'm not seeing how or why this is. The sway bar bracket is part of the spring mount welded to the axle so as the axle goes up or down so does the sway bar mount along with the cross over bar so where is the clearance issue?
