Thoughts?
Hi, just joined up so I'll probably screw up my first post pretty quick. I'm in Maryland so Jim Jennings is the shop ATS uses, fine with me, they've been doing my trans. work since my 93 was new. Gotta 99 now and ATS shipped trans. on Tuesday, should have it by Monday.Tried to go with just an upgrade but had glazing on some gears, truck shuddered several times under a load, 92000 miles , so went with stage 4 rebuild and commander.I'll be just under 6000$ out the door, that price includes Amsoil and the ATS high cap. pan. JC my service guy has always been up front and even calls when he says he will, rare these days.Bought truck new it's been great and is bone stock. The heaviest it pulls is a 3500 lb boat, all total, 5000 or so with all of us and our gear. 500 miles each way to Canada two times a year. With what I've told you, how's the price sound and your thoughts on best power upgrade for 300 hp. or so? Welcome!
Sounds a little high...but have not kept up with tranny prices in last 18 months, since I did mine. DTT was around $4,000, Tx prices (already had Deep Dish Pan).
An Edge EZ and a Set of Mach 1.5 injectors would put you at 325-350hp and feel like a whole new truck for under $1,500 with no EGT problems.
After Mon will also feel like a whole new truck. Tranny upgrades are spectacular...you may not want more after you drive it....at least for a while.
My original goal was 300 hp; I know someone who only wanted 250 hp when they first upgraded - now at 800 hp+. Beware the addiction!
Good luck
