Not for me, I am posting for a buddy who is light on funds and needs a TC, He would rather invest in a Triple if possible. Thanks for any help.

go to http://www.gbtransmissions.com/ , and call those guys, he (dave) may be able to give you the low down on what your buddy really needs, and he may be able to do somthin for cheaper than most...

I have one of dave's TC's myself (and i looooove it), I would much rather my buddy get one of his but again, he is "on the cheap" due to funds and that is why I was wondering about the trip-disc under $1k if it even exists

Not that there is not one out there but I would be very very worried about going cheap on a TC and expecting much longevity. Trannies are not a place to skimp.

Now I understand that your buddy is trying to do this on the cheap and I understand this, his best bet would be to get a stock replacment and save up some cash for a later upgrade.

You are so correct, it's kind of like trying to talk to a wall, don't get me wrong he is a great friend but thick-headed is an understatement

Thanks for all the replies guys, I at least have some information to give him, decesion is up to him.

Just to add .02cents. I've not been in the CTD arena long, but long ago used to hot rod cars and drag race. I was young and cheap too, and went cheap on a higher stall converter once for a car...learned my lesson quick (shafts were out of round and it leaked horribly even after two returns). Eventually spent the bucks for a Transmission Specialties and never looked back (although I don't know if they make one for this application), for hot rod gassers though, that is the only TC I would purchase any more.

oooo for hot rod gassers I like the Dynamic Converters. Not cheap-- but VERY good.

There's always Coan too. I Figure one or the other has to be the best.

well, i printed and faxed him all the posts...between me and the posts he is going w/ a name brand single disc (hopefully Goerend since i love mine) and a valve-body versus a cheap triple disc. Thanks for all the help guys. On another note, Thank You justinp20012500
for the info you supplied, his trans is out and time is of the essence for him otherwise your info was quite interesting.

I think the Sun Coast single Disc would definetly do him the trick with a valve-body upgrade. I had a cheap triple loc from Southern Truck Parts(Atlanta). After 3 of them destrroyed my tranny, I went to the SC & have never had another problem. Spend a little more now & save forever with a SC.

Can you expand on "destroyed my tranny".

That is a very broad statement.
