Thanks again TRE

I got Tim Barber to install a helix 2, f-1 fuel pump, and springs. In and out in seven hours! Anyone who's delt with him will tell you TiminVa is the man =P

The springs are actually slightly shorter than the stockers with two less sprials and definately are stiffer- maybe lighter. The fuel pump is very simple and should solve my fuel system concerns, maybe even add a hp or two =P The problem is my 0-15 fp guage is pegged so hard it looks like its disconnected- reading at 0 and the needle doesn't move =\ As far as the cam goes- I'm going to have to play some more before I get a good feel for it.

The motor doesn't seem to strain at lower rpms so I'm finding myself downshifting less. I haven't driven it enough to get used to it, but cruise egts are down and I haven't seen over 1200 yet at wot with the tst comp up to 5. Smoke is cut in 1/2 and boost is lower across the board. The sound of the engine is a bit different and there is definately a different feel to it. I'll post more soon.

Thanks again to Timinva of TRE Diesel for the great prices and service. I do wish I had brough a camera to snap a pic of the truck all torn down

Any ideas on what to do with a stock cam and springs?

Tim is tops...good advice, ecellent wrench and a good guy to work with, he doesn't beat you up on price either...unlike most "shops" you get to pitch in and do some/most of the work depending on your needs and skill level...

Its quite a sight- everything in front of the timing gears is gone. Tim used wooden dowels and rubber bands to keep valves from dropping so he didn't have to remove the head. Consider 7 hours to be world record type of speed.

Thats the same way I feel about Tj- everytime I get close to catching him he's buying new parts

Thats why he's always booked up two months in advance despite the fact he hasn't been advertising. I've already told him that all my bombing funds go to him

Didn't you get your cam at the same time as your twins Tiger Rag?

Well the crusining egts are blowing me away. It was in the low 40's tonight and I was seeing 500 egts at 50 in 4th or 5th gear. Roughly 600 at 60 mph and 700 at 70 mph on the trip home friday. Overall at least a 100 degree drop. I tried blasting through 5th and 6th gears and egts are 1100-1200 as opposed to 1500-1600 before. Max boost I've seen is 40 down from 47 before, but even when the guage reads 20 it feels like 30. My fuel pressure guage is a novelty item. Doesn't move. I've already cut off fuel to it.

Oh and the truck pulls hard past 3500 rpms, but 3500 is plenty. Stock the truck had 1900 usable rpms: 800-2700 ; and now 800-3500: thats 2700 *usable rpms* a 142% difference

I'm going to check the tst tommorrow to make sure is still functioning properly, just to be sure

No, I've had the twins for a while. McMopar helped me install them.

Tim did the cam and the 12v lift pump last August.

My trucks up in VA Beach with Tim now. Dropped it off Sunday a week ago to do head work.

Are you running a stock 12v lift pump, or has it been reworked to drop the pressure a bit? Didn't F1 have lift pumps for the 24v that ran at a lower pressure than a stock 12v?

Its not the pump found in the 12v's, but it is a cummins pump which should run lower pressures than the 12v pump.

I'm off to buy a fuse

Ok got the tst working- just had to sand the grounding point down a bit for a good connection. Anywho, I turned it up to 5 where I was pegging the 1600 guage before and this time I was unable to hit 1400. Temps jumped to 1300 pretty quickly at wfo, but were very slow to creep up from there.

So looks like 100-150 egt drop at cruise and 250 (guesstimated) drop wfo

And boost is staying 40 or less. Long live my stock headgasket! *knocking on wood*
