TC lockup operation ?

I got the Goerend trans installed and hooked up the TC lockup switch today.. I just about wet my pants when I took her for a ride. It's a whole new animal! . How are you guys operating the switch when driving ? I don't want to mess anything up. Thanks

I have started locking mine just about as soon as I get moving. I attempt to lock it at the same time it shifts to second or a bit before. That's with an empty rig, not towing. I still lock it pretty early towing (2nd gear) and let it shift locked through the gears until it will stay locked in third. I unlock it and let it shift and relock on it's own. The shift logic on my '01 keeps it locked in third, unlocks to shift to fourth and relocks right away. I don't think all years do it that way. It has improved my MPG some. You should be able to do the same on yours assuming you have Dave's VB. It's the same as mine.

You should have an aftermarket input shaft to shift locked.

It's a big plus for you guys that have a tranny that locks and unlocks in OD. (would drive me nuts).
I would not ger carried away with using the switch. Don't lock up until tranny is up to temp. Don't use it around town.
-For playing hard... lock up after shift into 2nd and leave it locked for 3rd and OD shifts.
-For hwy driving/towing.... get to cruise and lock it.
-Make sure it's off before you get below say 30 mph.

Enjoy!

I have been doing that for about 2 years now. This particular VB is built to shift locked even with stock shafts up to a certain HP/weight. Has to do with how the pressure applies during the shift. Goerends is the same. I don't know about others. Of course you can't get crazy with it. I don't have the power you have either.

Agree with Russ above, I have the Dave's VB and 48re input but not billet. I don't use it much unless playing or towing, and my HP is close to stock, only an EZ.

I can see a ~50* difference with it on towing slow up mtn passes. I get to 2nd gear and lock it in when I'm using it. It shifts fine, not hard at all.
