I tore one out of my last truck. Had two friends do the same. No fun driving home without 2nd, 4th, and reverse.
No rub with my set up.....8" wheels, 37" tires.
Only reason I don't like body lifts is because 1, you don't gain ground clearance like you do with a suspension lift. B, your still stuck with a stock suspension which isn't setup for off roading. And third, because you end up with an ugly gap between the body and the frame.
I guess the only way for a person to make a decision like this is to thoroughly research their options, in person. Look at the installs, ride in the trucks, and be reasonable with yourself about what you want to accomplish and how you will use the truck.
I am obvisouly guilty of just throwing my two cents into my previous reply without going into specifics.
I looked into every possible alternative to acheive what I was after, and determined what I went with based on my budget, and just as importantly (if not more so) functionality AND safety. If you can't meet the later two criteria, waiting until you can is the best thing I have to offer.
For me, body lifts did not meet my personally established criteria for what I wanted to do with and to the truck.
Looking back on what I did with my 99, I would do it again. If the money tree were to really rain upon my coffers, T Rex would get a really hard look-see from me.
