I don't think I have heard of any on dodges. I would say you should buy a Edge Comp but Im kinda bias I have heard good things about the TST boxs also.
I would also say get a set of gauges first
#1 FUEL PRESSURE or you may be spending large $ for no good reason.
As far as the miles I wouldnt worry to much if your not going to crazy.
Have fun

You wont see a very big HP improvement with the tuner.

There are almost as many opinions as there are members on this site, but here is mine.

1. Guages - FP, EGT, Boost, Trans Temp if auto
2. Exhaust Brake - Your sig says tow rig, and I would never tow without again if at all possible.
3. Tranny upgrades if you have a auto
4. Intake
5. Exhaust
6. Box - I love my Edge Comp, but there are many others
7. Fuel Upgrade - FASS, RASP, I have not made up my mind yet, but I am leaning towards a RASP
8. Clutch - Some may say sooner, but I still have my original with 149,000 miles
9. Turbo Upgrade - How much power do you want? HX-40, B-something, twins?

There are probably some I am forgetting and some others would do differently, but this is just my quick stab at a answer. Good Luck!

Michael

I have been running the supertunner about six months now and love it. The edge may be better i dont know its according to what you want to accomplish. All i wanted was a little extra pulling a fth wheel trailer it sure did that and very well to. My truck dosent dowwnshift as often but i dont run it on the highest setting i loaded it once and didnt like it with the 410 gears it was much to agressive on take off but that may be what you want.

I ran my wife's truck on performace tow 50HP for nearly year now, She like it better than the Comp, as she had to remove it once for a warranty issue when the Map sencor when bad. I just kick it up to the 70HP setting (max) and seeing how it effect mileage overall. It did seen to make much difference to me on 50HP, 70HP but it was wet and I did push it. I believe the Comp had more kick in the pants even without tapping the wire.

After useing one for a year in my opinion they are junk. Money would be much better off spent some place else.

1. Tire correction screwed up and now it thinks stock tire size is two inches taller.
2. Will not clear codes on my truck.
3. Tuner is sent back to superchips to see if they can correct tire calibrator and unlock it so I can reinstall stock program.
4. Cost me $$$ to ship it both ways.
5. Have heard of other guys sending in their programer and when they got it back it still did not work.
6. Hp on max tune is about the same as comp on level 1.
7. Can not use tuner to full Hp capacity if you tow.
8. WISH I HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUPERCHIPS MICRO TUNERS.

the thing i liked about it was the tire size thing and the hp gain.... for CHEAP. its only 440 bucks canadian. and as for sending it back that won't be an issue... i have to send stuff back all the time and i just write it off.

but i'll definatly look into the edge one.

Go Edge Comp...........you WILL NOT be disappointed!...........it has the adjustability to add more fuel as you add more bombs to your rig.............the tire size thing is not an issue, you can throw it on a scanner and have the revs per mile set to whatever tire size you want - unless you are going to an enormous tire that is out of the adjustability parameters of the computer........I took my 98.5 to the dealer and it took the tech all of 2 minutes to change the revs per mile and they didn't even charge me.........this is not the time to go cheap - you should be able to get an Edge Comp for $800 cdn and when you are ready to go nuts you can also upgrade software to a Drag Comp should you feel the need to fuel hard past 2700rpm!

2 of my co-workers have supertuners on their powerstrokes at work. They seem to do more for Fords than Cummins from what I have seen. One of the guys had his tuner stolen from his truck. He is stuck on the highest performance setting. He is going to try to get the computer flashed by the dealer to get it back to stockso he can tow.

Sorry Dr evil for not getting back to you. I have had and run my truck on all the settings also have put back stock. The doggone thing does extremly well. If by some chance I need a little more power for some reason (ps) or another (dura) on my lunch break from 8-10 min. shes ready I cannot say the hp is as advertised but it sure impressed me and realy woke my truck up even stock i believe is more responsive. I even went back to stock and loaded my buddies truck yea he bought one.

O/K now here's the question- on a 1997 CTD how much is controled by the computer (PCM)? I'm getting the impression not much as far as engine performance. Would a chip programer really do anything (for engine performance) for a 97?
