Suggested mods for towing ?

I am looking for guidance on the best mods for my rig for towing. I am in the process of adding a full set of gauges, and an Airdog fuel system, and will upgrade the factory exhaust when it dies. Other than this, what do you folks suggest for reliable towing. My new trailer will weigh in at about 12k.

I had a smarty Jr. (set to 2) on my 03, with intake & exhaust, and Maghytech tranny pan and diff covers and gauges. and it towed great...

a mild box such as edge ez or quadzilla xzt+,forget a intake its worth less the stock air cleaner is good to 500ish hp,exhaust 4" no bigger to keep your egts down, fuel gauge pyro and boost guages,a decent clutch to hold your power, for what little it does a boost elbow will help with keeping egts down by allowing more boost,a decent lift pump either fass ddrp or air dogs raptor

might like to add that an exhaust brake is very helpful but kinda expensive. also need to have proper gearing especially if you changed tire size

yes did mention at minimum a valve body and torque converter upgrade and if possible ATS or Like I have a DDT transmission with the goodies. I also did a cheap up grade to my truck the 1ton chevy rear brake cylinder upgrade.

IF I had to start over again with my truck. After gauges, a VB & TC would be the first towing upgrade.

I would do the mod to the stock airbox to let it pull air like the old Scotty's system did from the cowl. I thought the 2002's all had rear discs? If not, be careful with the 1 ton rear cylinders, since I did them I've had problems with the rear locking up very prematurely. Even with an adjustable proportioning valve adjusted to pull all the bias from the rear it still does it. Weather permitting I'm going to 3500 cylinder this weekend which fall right between the 2500 and GM ones in piston size.

I wish also,I have a billet single low stall TC installed . I`am thinking of a valve body up grade ,I understand I will have fluid flow when ever the 5.9 runs and a lot more band clamping force. Might just take this working 47rh apart now and install some new parts.this spring towing up grade will be a fan powered cooler under the box and 4x4 low mode for low trans temps and bags of back up power.

The list goes on LOL Engine brake soon

Wow thanks for all the information... With regards to the Tranny upgrades, I have a DTT dealer local to me, how much would I be looking at for the VB/TC combo, and what should I be asking for ?
