Starting mods?

I'm somewhat new to this whole world. I was wondering how much power a stock auto (2002) could handle? And what the safest mods are. Also, how much power can the acuall engine handle? Thanks.

The stock trans can't hold much more than stock but a good tc and vb will help. Start off with some guages, 4in exhaust and an intake before you start throwing more fuel to it.

Regardless which truck you get you're going to want to set up some guages before you start modifying it. Plan on some fuel system upgrades along with a clutch or some tranny work.

And since you're new to DTR:
vb = valve body
tc = torque converter

Well, what I'm curious to, is if the 3rd gens are easier to make fast, and if their worth the extra money id be paying for it. Becuase looks wise, id rather have a 2nd.
