Stacks with a topper?

Has anyone ever had Stacks with a topper? If keeping water out it seems like it would be difficult but a buddy suggested it with my truck but I don't even think its possible? Any thoughts? Pics? info if its been done?

Thanks

JT

I don't really like toppers, but as for the water, I've never had any problems. If you use clamps on the exhaust the water will just seep out the little cracks. If you have the pipes welded you can drill a little hole in the pipe to let the water drain.

Sorry, I should have clarified...Keeping water out of the topper. like sealing around the stacks?

This is my first topper (came on the truck) and I love it so far! I can take the dogs when we go to the cabin or the inlaws for the weekend and they don't have to ride in the cab if the weather is bad. Not to mention its a ready made tent and I don't have to fold it up or water getting in if it rains! lastly its light and with 6 clamps my wife and I can remove it and I can still carry my bike in the bed if needed! I wish I had one on my previous truck! (I was going to sell in when I decided on the truck but now that I have it I am enjoying it)

keep in mind inside the canopy will get pretty hot if ya ran stacks up out of it. If the dogs happen to come in contact with them they could be burned. this sounds like a bad idea all round if ya ask me. just my opinion.

Ive seen it befor and told some people on here about it. What you do is, fab up a 6 inch stack out threw the topper with a rubber gasket siliconed to it and the topper, then have 4 inch pipe inside the 6 inch which the exhaust will flow threw. Cut the 4 inch 6 inches shorter than the 6 inch and you will have a safe way to do it.

Seems like a lot of work for no benefits and several drawbacks.

Running the stack pipe inside of an even larger pipe sounds like the way to do it, though.

so lets say you do this and then decide you don't like it for whatever reason (noise, looks) and take it out, now you have a big hole in your bed and your topper.

I guess ya'll confirmed NOT TO...Also to add if I did do it I'd have to remove the stacks when I remove the topper to carry a larger load or 5th wheel!

What a Hassle. I can think of plenty of other ways to spend my time/money!

Thanks for the input!

I don't know how he got around the frame. as I said I will look. it looks sweet as I drive by. as I said i will try to get a pic tommrow before work.

RE: stack and toppers

i have a topper on my truck with one stack coming out of it. i cut a 7in hole for the 6 in stack to go through, it leaves a quarter of an inch around the pipe. i have never had any trouble with water getting in the bed. the only differnce would be that my stack come through the corner of the bed not the middle so that might be why i dont have water problems. i can post a pic for you if you would like.

Is it just me or is the math here a little off?

I used to have an 87 ford that I did that to... Was always back and forth with a topper and GN. Just had a single on the outside of the bed. I have a dual race exit almost completed on my truck. The frame isn't the issue; it's the fuel tank that and drive shaft that gets in the way. In a week or two here after we use my truck to go get a load of building materials I'm gonna be putting in a 100gal. tank in the bed and dropping my plastic one. I'll post some pics of what all I did and the results soon enough.

It's not you. There should be 1/2" of clearance around the stack. (based on brocks numbers)
