I am looking to upgrade my speakers in my truck... but know next to nothing about good speakers. I have $400 for the the sound system. i would like to have 2 12" subs in a box under the rear seat but if i can't get speakers for the front doors and the back pillars and the subs for under 400 (and i don't think i can) then i can hold off on the subs. for a while.

I already have a Panasonic headunit. i don't know the model off the top of my head but it over powers the stock speakers at half volume...

 

one good sub will cost you 400 bucks

front speakers will cost around 150, rears will cost about 100. I would run them off an amp. Which will cost around 100-200 depending on the brand.

 

ok i'm not looking for a sub that is that good... just reasonable

 

What you really need to do is go somewhere and listen to them yourself. I myself like the sound of JL's or alpines for highs. Power Acustic makes a good 4 channel amp for around $150. I'm pretty sure you have 6x9's in your front doors but from what I have read round speakers sound better. I myself replaced my front speakers with JL ZR's. There 300.00 dollar speakers but they sound really good. I just depends on how much you want to spend.

O yeah if you want a sub that really hits go with some Kicker L7's.

 

i just redid my stereo system, went with alpine type r's in the doors, rear panels, and the sub. also two alpine amps
