What is the difference in Con-O and Con-OFE? What do I need with a 2001 5 speed with an EZ and 275s???????Do I need the 13-1.25? I tow very little.

 

A ConO is organic on both sides and the ConOFE is organic on one side and feramic on one side. If it was me I would go for the OFE just incase there are any future bombs added. I believe the South Bend website lists hp levels for it's different clutches.

 

DavidP...The difference in the two clutches, is the material on the clutch faces. The con "o" means it is made of an organic material. The con "ofe" means it is made of a combination of organic and feramic material. Peter of South Bend Clutches also makes a con "fe" which is a full feramic material. The differences in the surface materials, determins the horse-power performance holding power, and is a rating system South Bend uses as a guide for consumers.
In your application, a con "o" would work fine. However, as Peter would advise, if you plan to ugrade your truck in the future, up-grade to a higher holding power clutch. You can find all the information you need, at:

You'd likely get away with an OFE and 300 HP if you drove with an awful heavy foot to get it seated. The FE may never properly seat.<br><br>Rod

 

I was going to order the OFE and he talked me out of it even though I'm heading past 400hp. He REALLY doesn't recommend organics for towing!

Talk to Peter, he knows his clutches. He'll help you out with the clutch that will work for you.

They can be ridden a bit when backing. The OFE is, in my mind, a great combo for high HP and towing. But with a proper foot (ie: stay off the clutch), the full feramic (FE) can be used as well. I personally ran an FE in my 2001, and towed some good weights (trailer and load approaching and exceeding 30K).<br><br>Rod

 

I have the southbend Con O in my truck and love it. the Con O is rated at 400 hp and 900 ft lbs torque. I do pull a little with it although have yet to have any really heavy loads on it. I have put my truck through it. I've went as hard as I could and the clutch held. <br><br>got milk?

Yup! My bad. Thank heaven Peter know his clutches, 'cause I messed that up....a little.

I wanted to get the FE (full feramic - no organic material) rated at 550hp-1100ft-lb torque. Peter talked me into the OFE (feramic lining and organic lining) rated at 450hp and 1000ft lb torque to tow with because it's engagement is smoother. So he DOES recommend organics for towing!
