Currently, I've got a 4" strait pipe. I'm thinking about going to twin stacks.
I'll also be adding a programmer.
Right now the sound is noticable, but not bad. Will the stacks kill my hearing?

I made a full 5" turbo back to duel 5" stacks outside the bed on a extended cab with a flat bed and you can hardly hear it with the windows up. He has a Edge Comp, Aluminum diamond plate intake I made with a AFE filter, and some other goodies. It sounds great.
Thanks for the info.
Yes you will be able to talk on the phone, as long as the windows are up. I, or anybody else that rides in my truck, can hardley notice them cruising with the windows up. With the windows down you can definately hear them, but they are not obnoxioulsly loud per say. Go for it!
I have 5 inch turnouts that are shorter than the roof and they are pointed out to the side. With the windos down its loud, but with them up its not bad at all. Best Thing to do is put some felx pipe on under the cab with your stacks and see how you like it. Then if its to loud take the flex pipe off and slap a muffler on there.

no muffler
the only way to do it right is with no muffler. its funny, everyone i know has gassers, and when they ride with me, even with the windows up, they start raising their voices and "complaining" about all the noise. i just feed her some more fuel and crank the noise up a few more knotches. with the window down, its even better. the louder the better. the hearing in my left ear has been deteriorating for years now due to running heavy equipment and shooting guns on a daily basis and even worse since ive been in the Corps, so it might not sound that loud to me. but anyhoo, they arent that loud, and not bad cruising at highway speeds. me and my two buddies back home in tx were thinking of a way that we could pipe in the exhaust noise inside the cab just for kix. were not gonna do that, but wouldnt be fun if you had someone in your truck for the first time, and you could hit a switch and all of a sudden this heavenly roar scares the heck out of the guy or a girl that your wondering how she followed you back to your truck after youve left the Jolly Rodger(its a small bar down the street from my house, with lots of "beautiful" bar flys.)
Stacks are louder than the exhaust out the back. but diffently not louder than just the downpipe! (lol ask me how i know)
However, since the exhaust is exiting upwards, to the regular civilan the 4" straight out the back is louder than the stacks. But the stacks are louder in the cab then the 4" straights out the rear.
However the loudest setup that ive ever driven is just a downpipe. it rattles the whole truck and sounds freckin sweet. IMO, it sounds better than the stacks, but i like em LOUD. of course, its not street legal.

My truck is really loud, but it's due in part to that I have a single cab and I think on the plain jane models, the sound proofing in the truck is not done as well. I just got a muffler because I can't hear myself think in that truck at 70 mph. i can't hardly use the cell phone and I have to yell almost to talk to my gf so she can hear me!lol I'm going with a straight through muffler because I don't want it quiet but just not so much of a drone.
I was surprised when my brother put his twins on. His exhaust was quieter than my stacks and he didn't even have a down pipe hooked up to the 3B. I knew it wouldn't be as loud, but it shocked me as to just how quiet it got.
You know on the gassers how they do the 'swept' exhaust ... that comes out the side of the truck before the rear tire ... i'm thinking about building duels using that design ... that would be just as loud as stacks but i can still put a slide in in the bed.
I run bio ... so i'm not worried about black crap down the side of the truck ...
