smoke switch troubles!

so after reading quite a bit on here, and watching this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVRPipmo8sU
i decided to install a smoke switch tonight. i hooked it up on the wires shown on the vid ( no edge mod. tho) and tried it out, and all it did was throw a code and lose power. no smoke. does the switch not work on stock truck? the code is no worry, i sell cars for a dodge dealership so i can get the code scanned and cleared. i am just concerned about losing power and not gaining smoke. what did i do?

No a smoke switch will not work on a stock truck. It'll just go into limp mode as you have found out. A module that does boost fooling is necessary.

if you go to the wrong wire, you are hooking into the temp sensor wire, and it will throw a code and loose power, i did it wrong the first time when i had a switch......

Yes, you wll need to unhook the jumper you installed so you can clear the code.
