I second that bit about the Juice pulling harder than the comp on the bottom end. Another thing to think about is when you eventully have a bombed truck, it is nice to have a comp or Juice so you put it on one of the three defuel levels so you don't smoke out the whole block every time you get a green light. I'm only running RV 275's and the smoke is annoying when I don't have my Juice on sub level one. FYI, the sub levels require a certain boost pressure at the map sensor before they allow the box to bump up the fueling curve. A smarty cannot do that. I love smoke as much as the next guy, but I don't like worrying about cops or mother's pushing strollers everytime I take off at a light. Now, put the Juice or Comp on 5x5 with some sticks, even small ones, holy SMOKE!!!

I have no issue controlling smoke with my set up. Just have to be careful and aware of starting from a stop. Now if I have some knucklehead riding my tailgate.......I can certainly affect his vision!!

Exactly, drive on the smoke threshhold, instead of having a box limit you. Thats what I like about the Smarty, removes those limits and lets you decide. 99% of the time, there is no smoke coming from my truck. And it doesn't feel like a pig below 10 psi and then just hits you. I hated that about the comp.

Smarty does do that...just not tied to boost settings.
Lower numbered Smarty settings come in more gradually. Acts like it is tied to APPS instead of boost... but not sure.

But low smarty settings do fuel harder than low Edge settings.

I have run with the Comp/Smarty and the TST/Smarty. The TST/Smarty is the best. I'd bet that the guys saying Comp/Smarty haven't been in or driven a truck with the TST/Smarty combo.

Currently, I'm very happy with the injector/Smarty combo. Lenny (DDP) drove it and it put a big smile on his face!
Mines better than yours. decisions, decisions, decisions.

Not sure what you are getting at.....but when the guy (Marco) who invented the Smarty says the best box to use with the Smarty is a fueling only box (TST), the decision is easy. Add to that, I've had both in my truck and can speak from experience.

So your point is....?

How is the TST/smarty vs. comp/smarty better? The comp/smarty works pretty well. Sure wakes up the 1st and 2nd gear. The throttle peddle is only works for the first 1/4, after that there no gains. Sure messes up the tranny kick down. I'm planning on adjusting that I can get a earlier shift. I can see why the smarty is hard on clutches in comparison to the stock ecm program. The smarty adds to much timing and I see is black smoke and poor spool-ups. Once you have boost, ya you’re making more power. Someone has to make a good all in one program to work with a box. I think that edge timing advance is better controlled than the smarty.

Mike,

There has been issues with the Smarty and autos. Since I have a 6 spd, I haven't paid much attention to those. The way I have had it explained is the Smarty uses "dynamic" timing, the timing changes based on the input from the throttle and the Comp doesn't.

Once again, when the guy who designs, produces and distributes the Smarty says, "The Smarty works best with a non-timing box", I listen.

IMHO the TST/Smarty was smoother then the Comp/Smarty. I don't have any dyno numbers, just seat of the pants.

The Comp was good, I prefered the TST. The funny thing, I'm not running either one now. My combo of injectors, turbo and Smarty are exactly what I wanted and I'm happy with the performance.

Have you dynoed your truck with your current set-up yet? Inquiring minds want to know.

Not yet, will do it middle of the month at DDP's event. I'm guessing that it will go down from my the numbers in my sig, but I'm happier with the daily driving performance.

I don't know if anyone else has had issues with a Smarty/ Hot Juice stack but a friend of mine had it on his 01 and level 6 would not work with the Smarty loaded. Level 5 worked fine but 6 would not. This was with the Smarty on even settings for no timing. A J/A is nice but I would not get it if I was planning on stacking with Smarty. Now a Drag Comp/Smarty and TST/Smarty stack will have you grinning from ear to ear.......but what would I know, I only have a P-pump.

A juice and 275's got nothing on 155's and a TST/Smarty combo.

I have done some BETA testing for Marco and the COMP will work just fine with a Smarty with no timing added. With timing added via the Smarty it is just to much for the engine. However in testing YES the TST will work best with Smarty because its strickly a fueling box. But some have also brought up a good point. Sell the COMP and buy some Mach 4 injectors along with a Smarty and that will easly get you over 400hp.
