I know it may be a dumb question but the people who used to do the Mad ECMs now don't do the catcher but just the smarty or can you still get the catcher upgrade.

 

The Smarty on #9 is equal to a Mad ECM. Mad ECM and Catcher are the same thing. Smarty is the next evolution of the Mad ECM into a form that can be downloaded into any stock ECM through the dianostics port. I don't know if you could download smarty software into a mad ecm, why would you want to anyway.

 

Really I don't all that adjustments that smarty would offer.I would like to just run a catcher or mad and then use whatever fuelin box for the adjustment.I don't know why thats just me.

But I was right, the smarty lives and the MAD died right??

 

I smarty can be flashed into any 98.5 -02 ecm. mad or not. the smarty will overwrite over the mad or catcher software

Then all you do is get a Smarty, load SW #9, and never touch it again. Use your fueling box for adjustments on the fly and there you have it. Oh, if you have a fuel/timing box then you want SW #8.
