SMARTY and injector combinations.
Thanks for all the replys.
I am leaning toward the Mach 2s. I am a bit worried about growing out of this injector without a secondary fueling box. Would a Mach 4 be advisable or is that too much injector for my HX35? I can back off the throttle if things get hot (+1250*F), but I also don't want to stare at the EGTs every 5 seconds the whole time I am pulling a trailer.
I also read where my HO pump is not going to put down the HP numbers as a SO pump, so again, I am worried about making a mistake. I would like to add HP in stages as the mad money will allow, but I don't want to head off in the wrong direction either.

As a comparasion to my friend's truck (98.5 24v SO pump, RV275s, Edge Comp), will the Mach 2s and a Smarty feel as strong or will I need to go to the Mach 4s to achieve similar power? We replaced his clutch and 5-speed because he toasted them both with the Comp.
He's now upgraded to a NV5600 and a South Bend Con-OFE.

You should be able to run the 4's with a stock turbo, member Hohn did. You will probably have to be careful with the clutch. After a while, he upgraded to a SBC Con-OFE (If I remember correctly).
BUT he did not tow anything. I would be concerned with the 4's and a stock turbo while towing.

Mach 6s and #9 is AWESOME
I just took my TST off for service so thats what im running right now and its a blast, low smoke and instan response, makes me wanna put in a Pro-street66 and still get fast spool up

I'd run the 150 sticks and a Smarty. If it gets too hot, switch to stock software. If thats too hot, go to half power. Even on half power setting, I could still get 28 psi on an empty truck. I think M2/Smarty combo would be pretty comparable to an RV275/Comp combo. Except you'll have more lowend than him, especially with the HO. If I didn't have the HRVP, I wouldn't hesitate running a set of M4's and Smarty together on a stock turbo. It'll get hot, just need to drive smart. Then again, I don't tow at all.
Demon, talk to Harry at PDR. He sure knows his stuff as he drives a twin turbo Dodge. I would order the TST Powermax CE from him and have it shipped out on the Greyhound or DHL. This will save you paying $115.00 in brokerage fees to get it over the border like I did. It's a fun box combined with the smarty...

It looks like Mach 4s are now on the shopping list.
My friend shuts off his Comp when wheeling to reduce the tendency to spin the wheels in the dirt. What HP level will 150hp sticks and the Smarty at 1/2 power equate to? Will the truck be at or below stock HP?
I read that the TST comp is able to squeeze 180hp from the VP44?
I thought the Edge Comp at 120hp was the upper limit. I may eventually tap the pump wire, but the prospect of taking a 50/50 chance the VP44 will die seems expensive.
I did the Smarty and DDP 4 's the other day. But I also upgraded to a Super B turbo from the HX35.
Like yourself, I am skittish about tapping the pump wire. My goal was for 400 hp without molesting the pump wire and I got it. This was on straight #1 fuel.
I'm really liking the #7 setting so far on the Smarty. Roads have been too bad to try the Smarty on Kung Fu.
Trucks manners are very good just going down the road. Get into it, well thats different.
The truck dyno'd 273 with the sticks and charger with the ECm on the stock setting.
The Smarty REALLY brings the injectors alive.
I think you will really like the Mach4's alot..
Here's the sheet from the other day. Good luck with your decisions....

) and quiet them down when needed.

Thanks for everyone's input.
Hahahahah thats funny..........
I loaded #9 into the truck while I was still in the parking lot when I picked it up and haven't looked back...........
just recently quit snow after about 8 days
its been a good time. but I don't have injectors in it yet

When you ran it without the Smarty, did you feel it defuel at all? When I dynoed my truck without the Smarty, it still felt real strong, would boost to 35 psi and not quit. Dynoed 300 even without it. Adding the Smarty picked up another 76, didn't see anymore boost out of it.

I'm begining to think a smarty makes more power with a 6 speed after some of the positive results like this people have been posting
Tate,
I'm not sure how to answer you on that on. The only time the trucks run this combo with the ecm stock was for that one run. Thats it. The dyno operator made now mention about the boost or defueling. I only did it out of a curiosity.
The next run was smarty #3 and that went 395. His response was holy poop.
I completey skipped #5 because I had ran that the day before and didnt like it. Truck surged on cruise control so I skipped it.
The rest of the results were 398 to 401 and tq from 852-861.
All I could squeeze for boost out of the Super B is 33-34 lbs. Thats it. Even clamped the wg off. No mas. Kinda surprised me a little.
Truck spools like yesterday tho and the tires start skipping at 25lbs boost.
Phatty, not sure what you mean about the positive correction factor. Not too well versed in those areas. Good or bad?

My Smarty arrived today...AND I really like it!
I loaded #7 in and drove my truck to work. Man, what a difference the Smarty makes! I liked how the power comes in lower than my friend's Edge Comp, but obviously it wasn't as much power.
After work, I loaded the Kung Fu program.
Truck now feels like a gasser it is so responsive. I am keeping an eye on the rear view mirror trying to get a handle on the smoke. I really don't want to get a 'fix it ticket' because my foot is feeling a little itchy.
I think this Smarty thing is a great investment because it can be used in so many different ways. I like it. I'm sure I will like it better after I install the Mach 4s.
I read a few days ago that the Mach 4s can be custom tailored for towing. Who do I order them from so this modification is communicated back to F1? How will I tell if I got the modified ones instead of 'regular' 4s?
I know I am going to need a clutch about a day after installing them anyway.
