Smarty / Comp Questions Again

Just wanted to check something out with the gurus. My transmission is getting ready to go out of warranty in about 5K miles. So I'm thinking that this is the right time to hook up the pump wire on my comp box. Question is can I leave the comp on the truck with the power turned off, and set the smarty to "fuel saver" mode when the wife does drive it. I didn't think that the comp will do anything but act as a boost fooler with the power off. But thought that I'd double check first. Better put the tranny through the paces to ensure that no problems should arise after warranty is up, if you know what I mean! LOL Thanks guys

Yup. Why are you worried about your tranny going out on you? Goerend's build's some top notch stuff. Tap that wire, turn the comp on kill and the smary on 9 and go have some fun.

BB - A local vendor that does transmission work for Haisley machine, when they are to busy to get to vehicles, did my trans with Goerends parts. I've had some problems with it kicking in and out of lockup. Dave sent me a noise filter and that took care of that issue. I had a friend who drove the truck, and admitted that he was doing some boosted launches and one time the truck kicked itself into neutral. Should have launched my foot in his Edit. That sounded bad, considering that I have stock shafts. Changed the fluid and it hasn't done it to me. I try not to launch it over 5lbs myself.

Have you called dave about it kicking into netural? I still say tap that wire and beat the ever living snot out of that thing. That's what I plan on doing to mine. I'm going to push it to the edge as many times as I can.

BB- Spoke to Craig? this morning at Goerends. Advised starting with checking out transmission mounts to see if they are broken. Then checking condition of shift linkage and its mount location, to see if they maybe damaged or bent. The column selector and rest of the linkage were changed when trans was installed. Will check it out this evening. This morning I did a couple of launches at about 8lbs of boost, while keeping my hand loosely on the gear shift and nothing happened. Well the freakin tires busted lose. Put it stayed in gear. Hopefully it was just a fluke. Well see.

The fuel saver mode uses more timing than the other sw's and I'd hate to see what happened if you forgot it was in sw1 and ya clicked the comp on. Maybe a mild setting like sw2 or sw4 for the misses and then its good to go when you want to click the comp on. You don't have to use sw1 to get good mileage

Thanks Phatty - I'll load something other than the fuel saver mode, when she does drive it. I think that she finds it annoying when the coal starts rollin. She is a mortage supervisor at a bank and doesn't think that it impressed other co-workers. She has occasionally laughed when I leave those pesky "rice burners" in the dust! Great woman! Lets me spend money on this old pile, now thinking of adding a FASS system. It's only money and you can't take it with you.
