Question slight mods

I tow about 10,000 lbs. regularly and looking to get better pulling power out of my HO 6 speed. I was thinking of getting a smarty and some 275 injectors. Looking for input on this setup and if I need to add anything else with it like a FASS or something.

A good set of guages should be your first purchase.

Sorry. Gauges are on the way. Boost, pyro, fuel pressure.

Whatever mods you add for power, get yourself a Scotty fuel system kit. I am very happy with mine. Just installed it today. It'll save that really expensive VP44, especially when towing. It's only $169 bucks too. As soon as you get the gauges (fuel pressure) you will likely see you need help there. 5 psi is considered the minimum IIRC. I am running a stock in tank LP, and I never drop below 5 psi now, and I was before the scotty with all those goofy banjo bolts squeezing off the fuel flow.

+1 for scotty or vulcan kit. Money well spent.

Gauges coming, scotty fuel system kit ordered. Can anyone tell me about the smarty and the 275 injectors (mpg's, settings, egt's)?

I had to laugh when I saw the title "Slight Mods"

Yeah,... We've ALL been there before............
"Oh Honey, the 'little' EZ box will give me more MPG and make the truck run better too.....that's ALL I want to do to the truck."

Gauges lead to fueling/timing boxes, which lead to larger injectors which leads to fuel supply upgrades, which leads to drivetrain upgrades, which leads to bigger turbos, which leads to better boxes, bigger injectors, MORE turbos, cryo'ed drivetrain components.........it's a vicious cycle.

And the members here are very good at helping a fellow power addict find good ways to spend money.

Slight Mods

I have an 01 HO and I'm going to install the Edge Juice w/ATT next week. Because this is just a tow truck I think this is the best way to go, you get your gauges and fueling control in the cab all in one box.

The 275rv injectors would compliment your other upgrades as well as the fueling box that you decide to add. We have them here at HPU, they are new Bosch, not remans, call for quote.

The only downside is see is that if you have a problem with the box, you loose all your gauges...

Just my opinion, I think the Smarty is obviously a good way to go, and it sounds like you've got all the other makings of a great truck coming.... But I think personally you may want to consider a little bigger injector over the 275 cause you'll want them soon after anyway most likely!!! Even a set of Bosch 300's would be a pretty mean little setup with that smarty IMO.

Cheers to a great start to a build!!!

Where do I find the Bosch 300's? I have only been able to find the stocks or the 275's. Also, what settings are the best on the Smarty for towing.

i've seen them on ebay usually... i'm sure some of the major diesel websites have them or know where to get them as well. Last I looked you could get them for only about $20 than the 275's

FYI, the 300s and 275s are exactly the same things. I talked to a guy on the phone who was selling his 275s on ebay, and listed them as "300s". I asked why call them "300s" when they are RV275 injectors. He said, some other clown started selling his 275 injectors as "300s" and if he didn't do the same, he would lose sales as people would skip over him to get "better" injectors.

They are the same thing. Check the part #s.
