sled pulling rpm's
sled pulling rpm's
Did 3 sled pulls (with #1 on my sig) this year and need to do some more mods for next year. My question is how do I get the rpm's above 27 - 2800 when sled pulling. On the street, it will pull right to 32 - 3500 if I don't let it shift. Is it just my lack of hp limiting my rpm's? It's over fueled for the hx35 now, so no more fuel until the turbo gets upgraded. Will more air and a set of mach 4's get my rpm's up over 3k, maby 3400? I think getting my rpm's up will really help.
On the topic of turbo's, any recomendations for sled pulling and daily driver? Quick spool up is a must, this truck won't like a laggy turbo at all with a tight TC, 3.55's, and 285's. Thanks

I have a pulling tractor and watch dodges pull every time I go pulling. There are very few autos and most of the manuals have good clutch setups that get abused alot. The only automatic I have seen pull well had twins with a high stall convertor of some sort. I dont know the exact setup, but it ran pretty fair. You need to be able to come out of the hole with a full head of steam to do any good pulling a sled. A standard with slipper and iron clutch disks is the only thing that will last very long, and that will require rebuilds. Of course, all of this only works if you have the goods to make power at the RPM you are wanting.
