silver bullet installed

pulled the sps62 and put a silver66 on it.

turbo lights about 200rpm later, egt's are down 150-200*... at first didn't like it, but after driving it around for a couple hours, I got more comfortable w/ the new powerband... and I drug a smokin' d-max

I think the turbo would be more fun on an automatic as once the turbo is lit, it stays lit.

I think I'm gonna tag it w/ a little nitrous

not sure, it's obviously breathing better, and it's cleaner out the tailpipe even with less boost... needs more fuel!

how much boost do you see out of it? do you still have the drive psi gauge hooked up, if so what is it?

in lower gears it does 50psi, in 5th/6th, it does about 46-47psi w/ 41-42psi drive

but it's gotta be more efficient because EGT's are lower and it's cleaner out the tailpipe

So it doesn't hit as hard as the 62? Would you rather drive the sb66 or your old twins? I was intregued when you said the sps62 hit harder than your twins did and will follow your progress with great interest

BTW Timinva's posted that 41 lbs from a SB is enough air for 720 hp on his 3rd gen

Are you going to go to Buda on March 10th and see what the dyno picks up as the difference? Whats your overall opinion of it? I'm hopefully going to make it out to Buda early enough to dyno my truck with a few more mods (thinkin' Laser Cuts and SPS62 probably) and see what it will do

Fulmer runs his 66 at 40psi

thing hits every bit as hard if not harder, it just does it later... I guess that's what I meant by lazy. with enough RPM on the tach, the needle will definately swing.

when I think "twins", I think "towing"... or "automatic"

for a hot rod w/ a manual tranny, I'll pick a single every time.

I'm planning on it... not sure what I'm going to do out there. depends on if the clutch is in it by then. if not, I may just do a few runs w/ the SB and then put the 62 back on it and run it like that (if there's enough time) I can do the turbo swap in 20min once it cools down, but Ive heard there's going to be a lot of trucks out there!

put a couple more hours on it this morning...

after tightening up the AFC a little I got some boost/rpm numbers. it's hard to watch all the gauges and the road ahead, but with everybody else in church, I had some open road

10psi - 1600rpm
20psi - 1750ish
30psi - 1800ish
40psi - 1900ish

full tilt right at about 2000

it's a little more sluggish to come on like if I'm cruising along at 2300-2400 and nail it, it doesn't hit quite as quick as the 62, but it still hits hard, and once it lights, it feels like it's humpin' pretty good.

now I just gotta get a 5sp in this thing!

nah, I don't think this thing would be much fun at high altitude... gotta have the 62 for trips to the cabin

Good Point! Conversely... autos w/ moderate to heavy fueling (and tight trannys) need to stay away from big singles.
Been there...done that... hated it!
