silencer ring removal

I made the silencer ring disapper yesterday. Definitly sounds better. Anyone notice a decrease in performance or fuel economy with the loss of the ring. With the ring removed,it looks like the incomeing air can slam the flat on the front of the turbo inlet instead of funneling in smoothly.Has anyone researched this? Tony

I did the same thing to my silencer ring about 2 days ago...and i have too agree, the **** thing sounds great. According too my overhead console, fuel mileage is un affected, however i swear i lost the top end power....but that might be cause when i tested it i was bucking a 40 mph headwind...i guess i'll find out tomorrow.

Jon.

From what I have read it will do nothing to the preformance of the engine. Here is a link to one of the sites that I have read it on. If anyone has more info I would like it.
