silencer ring

I know what the silencer ring does and what it is but I have a few questions. First, how loud does it make the turbo? Can you still stand it in the cab? Also, does it give you more power? Last, how do you do it? Give me some info for my 1994 12 v

Pull the air boot at the turbo. You will see a tin round ring held in by a internal snap ring (with no end holes) a small pick or screw driver will catch the end and pop it out, then remove the ring. I could hear a small diff in turbo whine,if your radio is on even low you wont notice it. Power, They say nada, but youll think so when you nail it Get a BHAF for the full effect.

Can be very helpful on driving practices tho. You can hear the turbo better and use your foot to control MPG better with it out IMHO..

if you've still got the stock air filter box, it won't be that loud... put a BHAF on it, and it'll sing like crazy!

What is a bhaf box and what do they cost? Also, what do you listen for to obtain better fuel mileage?

the turbo spools up faster and gets louder as you throttle up. You can use this noise to your advantage to help realize when your on the throttle harder than "nececcesary".

This would be a BHAF.

Shown with optional Outerwears water resistant prefilter.

Pull it off Its not hard to do, and if you dont like it put it back on. Personally I think its kinda fun to hear it. Pulled it off my truck with all of the intention of putting it right back on.....never did put it back

A Cummins repair center I use(Scheid Diesel) for all my drivetrain work has performed dyno tests with and without the silencer ring. They found no difference in power, pickup, at all. They removed mine and it sings loud enough to annoy me on long drives towing heavy loads. To be fair, I have tinnitus and the turbo whine is right in that sound range. Someday I've gotta reinstall it...... even if others do say it sounds cool.

CarlJensen, I have the NAPA 2790. Can you tell me what the difference between the NAPA 2790 and the NAPA 6637?
