The extra noise comes at an extra cost. There is NO extra power gain. That increased noise is caused by increased turbulence at the turbo intake. And that increased turbulence equaos reduced power.

Can anyone prove reduced power or economy?

It's a simple law of physics and common sense that it takes energy to make noise.
It might not drop the power much but removing the ring has to cost something.

The amount of power the turbine generates vs. the amount of power to create the extra noise would be a drop in the bucket.

That's nonsensical

That's like saying a top fuel motor makes less power with zoomies than with a full exhaust because it takes more power to make the noise with open headers.

Wow, maybe I'll put my ring back in. Or better yet, dyno, with and without it.

It may make a difference, but it is too small to notice. Unless it is doing damage to the turbo, I won't lose any sleep over it.

I think you might need take a course in physics.
The reason a top fuel engine makes more power is because it burns ten gallons of fuel in a quarter mile. They're paying for the increased noise with fuel usage.

So your saying that with less exhaust youll use more fuel?

silencer ring removal only helps if you also cut a hole in the bed and run stacks, preferably a Y pipe in the bed and two stacks...really tall ones.

then yes silencer ring removal will help in these cases

I guess when removing an air cleaner, the increase in horsepower, even with the addition in noise, is just a fluke.

Perhaps you should take some of your own advice.
