Shudder after box installed

Good afternoon,
I installed a TST PowerMax 1 2 weeks ago, and now at times my truck shudders. If I give it more gas it gets worse, if I let up on the throttle it leaves. Does not do it all the time, and never in 1st gear, only 2nd on up. Any ideas? I am thinking about the lockup toggle switch, but if I am having tranny trouble I do not want to amplify it. Thanks in advance.

Tiny

Re:Shudder after box installed

im guessing you got an auto, same truck as me, mine shutters sometimes to in the upper gears especially when at lower rpm's (max torque)...stock Trans. is the culprit here, stock TQ from what i understand! i try not to throttle up to aggressively from lower rpm's or let the truck "cruise" in the really low rpm's..it seems to shudder then too...just my .02

Sounds like your TC is dying. I'd suggest you start looking at new tranny's. What's your FP? Mine shuddered when my LP was dying.

Thanks for the replies, truck is an auto, lift pump is 2 mo0nths old and carries 13.5 lbs cruising. I was afraid to hear TC, but that is kinda what I expected. Have to lay off truck for now, maybe turn box off for a while. I thought the stock tranny would handle an Edge or Powermax 1 with no problems, but I guess not.

It just depends on the TC. Some trucks last a lot longer than others. One guy on hear claims that his stock TC is holding up to a Comp with pump wire hooked up on 5x5 towing a fairly heavy load. Don't know if I believe that but oh well.

Re:Shudder after box installed

If the shudder occurs in 2nd as you indicated, the TCC is not locked in 2nd. Could it be 3rd?

The symptoms sounds like TCC slippage, which you would expect after adding power mods.

Re:Shudder after box installed

i was at around 300hp/715tq before i had to put this new pump on so who knows that i'm at now... anyways, install an UNLOCK switch. don't allow the converter to lock under 1800rpms in OD (under 1600 in 3rd). 1200rpms locked is rediculous when it comes to this motor, no matter if it's stock or modified :

you might want to up the line pressures--it'll definately help the internals, and will prolong the converter slippage if you're running the low rpms locked up.

Tom

my auto: upped line pressures and converter stock/unlock switch...nothing else.
