anyone out there install a short throw shifter for a "01" six speed? read about it and sounds appealling. just wanna hear any hands on experience.

i had one on mine and i loved it. just for putting around town it was awesome. when i raced it, it got a little hard to hit the correct gears because they were so close. If you arnt going to race your truck, Put one on!!!

 

Have had one on mine for over a year now and love it!! It's worth it!

 

jj3500 I just put my used 01,02 sport shifter in the classified ads.

 

So your saying its not good for fast shifting? I want one to make the shifts more solid and quicker ,but i guess it wont do that?

 

I don't have a problem with faster shifts. You do have to get used to it though, after that, it rocks!

I know for awhile in the beginning, a lot of people were having shifting problems with the BD unit. Turns out that they missed a step and didn't put one bend in the shift rod just above the end. Not sure if it has been changed. My unit was made by a local shop and it works awesome!!
