Shocks

I have decided to go with Rancho. I have not decided wether or not I want the 9000's or the 5000's.

I think i may be too lazy to be adjusting them all the time. I think that I would rather have somthing that i could just leave it and be satisfied.

is the adjustability reallyworth it?
does the 9000 offer something that the 5000 doesnt besides adjustability?

where is the best place on the net to buy them?

Based on what I know and have heard about the 5000's they are 20year out of date design and are probably of less quality than the factory shocks. They may feel different when installed but probably won't last. The 9000s are a much more modern design.

Just my $.02

FWIW, and my 2 cents - I thought about these but, as far as the adjustablity, I kinda looked at that the same way as I looked back on my first 4X4 with lockout hubs. Half the time, I was already in a situation where I needed to change the setting, then had to get out of the truck and change it. Usually involved unexpected bad weather or road conditions.

I really don't think you are getting much for your money with the adjustable ones unless you are an avid off-road type person that knows when to pull over, adjust to road conditions, and then drive on in. Drive out, and readjust, etc.

I would check out 4 Wheel Parts personally. I got good info from them based upon my driving habits, style, and so forth.

Good luck!

I just put the Rancho 9000's on and I love them. I would definatley recomend them to anyone. It is not a pain to set them. Once you find where you like them the best you really won't have to touch them. As far as the best price everywhere I looked they were all about the same price. Hope this helps.

Is it worth the extra $$$'s for the adjustability though? Curious by all means. I think, and from what I have researched, that one might want to put the extra bucks towards something else.

I am most interested in others' experience as well.

I orderd a set of the adjustable 9000s took one look at them and took them back, I was unimpressed, Also there have been problems with the adjustment's on them as far as non-functioning and breaking entirely. I went with Bilsteins, they are a nice ride and far more economical, Goodluck, Rick

Put Bilstiens on mine Tuesday and I'm impressed. I also replaced balljoints and the steering damper at the same time and I can honestly say my truck hasn't ridden this good since new.

The Rancho 9000's are good shocks, just stay away from the in-cab adjustment for them.

what's wrong with the in cab remote? i have had mine for five years on two diffrent veh's and never had a problem with it. not so much as a leak if you put it together right. i would get the 9000's. it's nice to set them on 1 or 2 for freeway cruising, then jack them up a bit for mountain driving or winding roads. i adjust mine as i go or as the road changes. if you want to make it simple, get 9000's for the rear and rsx's for the front if you tow. that way you never have to mess w/the front and you have adjustability for the rear when towing. when i tow i set the rears at 4 for a little stability. if you can afford it, get the remote. for the best price, wait til march and get them through 4 wheel parts. they're supposed to have the buy 3 get 1 free sale then.

I have the 5000's on a half ton for about 10,000 miles and hate em. Going this week to get bilstiens. The 5000 allow the truck to continue movement after coming to a stop, drives me nuts. My mechanic calls it weebling

I love my Rancho 9000 because I get them just right for each condition I use my truck in.

Empty 2s all arround
1k lbs in the bed 4 fronts and 5 back
8k lbs gooseneck 6 fronts and 8 in back

I have not had any problems with the adjustments and with a lifetime warrenty I'm in good shape. Srigs
