Shift Kit???

Sorry for ignorance but can you tell if a shift kit has been installed.....and how? Don't know what it is but mine shifts with a jerk going into reverse and drive from park. No BOMBing evidence from previous owner seems he took good care everything. I have heard this is my weakest part. However I do not haul a very lot very often. May sound silly I just want to take care of the trans so I know it is there if I need it!!(for work and play)Thanks in advance

Hard shifting from park into reverse... What's the idle set at? A high idle will cause banging when shifting out of park. Also, worn u-joints or differential will do the same. A shift kit would most likely give you firm upshifts. Mine will shift very hard at light throttle upshifts (1st to 2nd especially).

A stall speed lower then stock will also cause a little firmer shift from park to drive and park to reverse.

A shift kit will do the same.

You can always grab a set of tranny gauges and do some line pressure tests,
