Re:Scotty Issue...

Ok I sat and typed a HUGE page one night asking certain questions and it didn't seem to post! > So hear goes again (short version)

I'm planning on a TST #10 plate as soon as I get my clutch installed. It will be run in the stock position however this will still cause some EGT issues. I'm currently running a BHAF with silencer ring because I like to stay sain!

Anyways I'm wondering what is the Scotty II like in "hush mode"? How loud is it? And what EGT reductions will I see with just the single OEM outlet being used?

I'm considering the AFE Mega Cannon and Scotty II (just like everybody does and I'm sorry to bore you, it will be over soon).

If I get the Scotty II it will be with the AFE Cannon filter like JohnP runs in his truck, but I do not want to cut the cowl hole for noise reasons. Should I just save the $$ and get the Mega Cannon and install a LarryB heat shield? I know that either one of these 2 setups is going to make my turbo louder I just don't want it to sound like its screaming from my lap!

comments, advice, suggestions greatly welcomed!

Re:Scotty Issue...

The Scotty II will lower your EGT's more than any thing else out there IMO.
It will be a little louder even without the hole cut than the stock box, but if you need the temps lowered cut the hole and leave the insulation folded back then you can fold it back over when you are not hauling and runnin high EGT's.
Then when you want to play or haul where your EGT's will be up fold the insulation back open and go for it. ;D
This way you have the best of both worlds.
I did mine that way but have never folded the ins. back over the hole.
If I were going on a long road trip empty I might do that.

: Eddie : 8)

However, we've also been told (by four customers who have switched)) that the Scotty in HUSH mode is quieter than the Cannon...

Rod

Re:Scotty Issue...

Smoke, I just installed my Scotty II and I can't hear any difference other than a slight turbo whine.

My ears are not that good because of too many loud blasts in my vicinity But my wife says she notices a slight turbo whine as well, nothing like I anticipated. This is with the hole cut.

I am at stock boost level now, maybe that will increase when I raise the boost, but for now I can not really tell much of a difference in sound.

Sorry, couldn't pass up on that one. It does appear that there might be a Scotty II in the near future. (Maybe I ought to wait for the Scotty III?) And that folks is how rumors get started. Re:Scotty Issue...

The headline that I think we'll be seeing reads: "Crazed website owner attacks retired Army sergeant with hole saw. Claims truck was vandalized. Website owner should be out of traction by end of the month." ;D

(I know, I know, it's a loooong headline, but just go with it.)
