Well Jack finally cut his hole, ;D so I guess you don't need to send it to him. I believe Got_Smoke was belly-aching the other day about needing to cut the hole but "can't find a hole saw". I'd heard this for the umteenth time by then.
He'd be a prime candidate for the "remains".

Chris

NWDAVE...I've got a "scotty" comming my way..That pic with the hole, looks like open heart surgery on your poor ram.. :'( :'( :'( I also noticed, on the second pic, it looked like a rubber floor mat covering the battery, did you use that to catch the tears, as you cut into the body??? Since I will be doing mine soon, where can you get a ( was it a 4" ) hole saw cutter?

Steve

Re:Scotty II installation.

Holy smoke, Dave. That is a BIG hole. I had no idea that is what it took to install a ScottyII. Sure glad the three didn't need that - - I don't know if I would have the guts to cut mine up that bad. I'd be crying for a year. :'(

Feelin'MuchBetterThanksBob

Scotty, no wonder that thing cools the EGT"s so well.. That's almost the same size as my sun-roof... Since I'm a contractor, I'll get some 4-1/2" ABS sewer pipe, take it through the sun-roof, make a 90* bend through the dash into the Scotty!!! Ahaaaaaaaaaaaaa instant Ram Air..' : :

Steve

Re:Scotty II installation.

Dee...I don't personally need a 4-1/2" hole, I think I've been reamed one two many times... I was going to call you anyway when I got the Scotty from Scotty :, and if you have access to a hole saw , or tell me where such a beast is located, I'll come up to your house and you can help me un "cherry" poor Heber. :'( :'( Since Heber has a 4" exhaust & 5" stinger the 4-1/2 " hole in the front should help her pass gas a little better..

Steve

Re:Scotty II installation.

When Racer57 was helping me with mine, he needed channel locks to bend some of the metal lips above the hole to allow the Scotty to fit snugger. Also, we added a "gasket" to the mounting hole (NAPA pn 50 9127-3 LIT MT CUP for $1.09 plus tax) to make a better fit and to help keep moisture out. Yes, the thought of cutting a hole THAT BIG was overwhelming in the gulp factor, but after a checkride with Racer57 in his Scotty equipped truck, there was no doubt in my mind that the hole had to be made.

Noise level, not that bad. No where what I thought it would be. Some people would have you believing it's akin to the sound of a F-4 on military scramble launching.

As Nike says: Just DO it!! (don't have one of those registered trademark symbols on my keyboard but you know what I mean ).

~Dave
