Scotty II

Well I got my Scotty Air II today, and wouldn't you know it, no instructions. I went to scottyair.com and got the instructions off their site but it isn't specific as to where to drill the hole. Do you just drill it where ever you feel like or is there some measurements that I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

I hooked mine up and then outlined where the end hit with a Sharpie. Then centered it up and punched the hole.....

Sorry to learn you did not get any installation instructions.

Normally they are in there. I PM'd you.

On this page...it describes where to place the hole...

With side by side pictures of the cowl before and after the hole.

The hole is made directly adjacent to the reinforced edge of the outer fender.

Another trick is to get a 4.5" or 4" dont remember off hand, rubber grommet for a trailer light. Fits in the hole nicely and my Scotty, just sticks its nose in there a wee bit.

Yup, I have a standard 4" rubber tail light grommet in the hole on my
Scotty II and it fits perfect.....it really finishes off the install nicely.

My expirience was...once you get in there with the drill....you will find there is not a lot of room to play with. Pretty much only one place a 4-1/2" hole saw will fit.

So basically I want to get the hole as close to the reinforcement as possiable, right?
How about the boot that goes from the fender to the stock air box? leave it in, or remove it?
Does the Scotty "snap" in or just sit there?
I just want it done right. Thanks for all of your help.

I left my boot in place...helps hold the Scotty II in place and keeps it from the occasional rattle I got in the fender hole....but basically it sits there.
Filter "snaps" into the cover...but entire unit does not "snap" in anywhere. It rides fine without being secured.

The pressure applied from the turbo inlet hose holds the unit into place.

The tail light grommet was a great idea.. I like it.

put a 4" grommet on mine today. it looks real nice, and helps keeps the cone from bouncing around in the hole. great call, whoever first came up with that idea

Well it is in with a taillight grommet (as stated above "good call")
Here is the differences I have noticed so far.
About 50* cooler egt's
A little difference in sound (more of a hiss than a whistle)
A little rattle on shut down

Thanks for all the info.
