Why can't I find one of these for my 2000 .. I know they make them!

They have been out of production for some time. I had to find mine from a member when we he went from a 12v to a 3rd gen. I think you can still get the filters for them, just not the housing. There is talk of them being produced again, but nothing concrete that I know.

build it! Drill the hole into the cowl area, put a big cone filter on the end of the hose off the turbo and that should do it! I did exactly that, sounds like a jet taking off every time I hit the go pedal.

Cut a whole in the cowl just to make it louder in cab you mean? I guess I could take off the silencer ring. I just like to listen to the thing juice

if the sound is all you want, that's what you need to do! the 3 or 4 inch hole in the cowl will also provide cold air to the filter. The air hits the windshield and is forced down into the cowl. It will blow through the hole providing cooler fresher air to the filter, if you like the noise you can't loose.
