Keep an eye out in the classifieds. I picked one up from a buddy when he sold his '97 to get an '03. Thats probably the most common way to get one.

As Tate mentioned, the only way to find one is used.

The filters are still available new from http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/m...r-intakes.aspx

Is the foam replacement better than the AFE filter that they originally came with? I heard foam let alot of particles in.

The UNI filter I bought as an upgrade/replacement for my Scotty II has a foam outer filter over a gauze/mesh inner.

The molds for the SAII system were for sale not long ago in the classifieds.

Scotty didn't so much get tired of making them, but dealing with the suppliers for the process of making them. Distribution was also an issue.

I like the 2 stage foam UNI filter myself. I don't think it was any worse than the AFE or K&Ns that came with the originals. Easier to clean.

I bet he still has them. I think the price was pretty steep for how long it would take you to recoup the cost of purchase. If my memory serves me correctly he wanted over $10,000 just for the mold.

On the filters. Can you use K&N cleaner/oil on the UNIFilters? I am out of my uni stuff but have the k&n cleaners/oil. I might pick up an extra filter as well.

You shouldn't use K&N oil on a foam filter. Foam filter oil is much more tacky and sticks to the foam element where K&N oil saturates the paper to trap dirt. If you are out of Uni oil you should be able to find it at any motorcycle dealer that has dirt bike stuff.

thanks. About the tacky oil, I understand. My little nitro truck uses that stuff. No where near a big enough bottle to do the diesel filter. I shall look for it then.
