Schwitzer S3 good or bad

I am finally going to buy a new turbo for the truck in my sig. Hope it gives a but more power but the main reason is to get the exhaust temp down. Right now it will go to 1300 then I let off, dont want to melt anything. I always thought I would buy an HX40 but the shop nearest me reccomends a Schwitzer S3 for my application. I cant find alot of good info on this turbo, like what is it? is it the same as an air werks S300? how much boost will it make?is it wastegated? and most important with the mods I have will it keep the EGTs safe and maybe provide a little room for future mods like maybe a comp box.

thanks alot

that's what the B1, HTB2, USB, etc. are based on... stronger turbo than the HX40

but, like the HX40, there are LOTS of different wheels for them... be SURE you're getting the right one!

A good upgrade from a HX40 - it has a stronger main shaft.......you don't hear about too many people having mainshaft problems with a Schwitzer.......the same can not be said about a HX40.........I have seen a HX40 mainshaft snap first hand and it is not pretty!

its also the same thing as the bd super b and yes its the same thing as the air werks that rip rook sells might have different wheels in them but same platforms. they all start life as a schwitzer. as far as i have understood so far in my search for a better turbo.

Do these turbos have a wastegate and if they are all a version of a schwitzer s3? why is there such a widespread price difference. If I am going to fork out the money for one I want to make sure I get the right turbo, not find out later that I should have purchased something else. Low EGTs and a quicker response are my main goals.

Thanks wrangler

different versions have wastegates...

pay real money for a turbo that you're confident in... saying S3 is like saying Dodge Truck...

If you are looking for future upgrades, I would go with the B1 series...wish I had. Not much more in price for what I paid for my Super B. I have accidentally pegged my guage (1600) no problem with the items in my sig...I'm working towards twins now so I can get bigger injectors...

The super b comes wastegated and is a schweitzer s300 and supports 425hp and its spools very quickly

I question the 425hp especially if it is quoted at the wheels, I have to turn my comp down alot to get the turbo the properly cool my truck, I wish I would have done the hx 35 ht3b combo sounds a little better and your still just buying one turbo if your truck is a standard.I can easily see 1600 in my setup I even tried the scotty with hopes of a little help but nope not enough air pull.

greenworks,
sounds like its time to put a ht3b under that super b. that should cool you down a bit and make for a fun ride .

I can tell you first hand the S300 will support 551 HP, RW. I see the truck every day. It's Jeff's every day truck. I watched it on the dyno and know of two others on trucks that run like crazy. New I can get them for aout $700 but a friend got one of those B somethings and paid over $1600. I like the way the S300 spools the way it comes. In stock configuration. I know an 03 with the S300 and a box the put down 447 HP. Runs like a cheetah.

In short, you can't go wrong.

s300 B1 maybe but not a super B s300 from BD not a snow ***** chance in he-- it would ever stand up to 551rwhp the twin system with the s400 won't cool 500 rwhp from what the tecs at BD say. I guess if a guy thinks 1700 degrees is cooling the engine then it probably would support 500 rwhp
