Exclamation Scheids DV's.. CRAZY!!!

I've been up in arms about not getting my injectors in time for a few events.. I've been waiting over 2 months..

Well, I got mad and decided to get a set of delivery valves instead to try them..
I scoped out Piers, Scheids, and TTS..

Ended up going with Scheids because of there relative closeness to me and they claimed to flow 100cc's more..

First of all, installation went fairly good... Had to borrow a multi-point socket from the diesel machine shop here locally.
Truck wouldn't start when cranking.. All the air was out of the lines.
Ended up just blipping the pedal and it would fire.

So, I go to put it in reverse and the tranny engauges, and kills the engine. Figured it was a fluke so I tried it again.. Same results in drive and reverse.

So, I called up Matt Joppie and he says I need to raise my idle.

Got it raised to the appropriate level and away I went.

All I can say is WOW!!!!!!

I took off and she just LAYS the smoke down.. Boost pressure is up 10PSI from 35PSI to 45PSI.. Thats with a HX40 with 16cm non-wastegated housing..

I can peg 1600º in about 10 seconds WOT.. It just screams.

I need to add a resonator to my exhaust.. the rap is just too loud now even with the 5050L Aeroturbine.

I was going to have injectors this week but I think I may back out.. I don't have enough AIR!

Best mod for under ~$300 I've ever done! Now I need some more air when I get some $$$$$

Did I mention the turbo spool up is AWESOME????

I tried a trial burn out last night.. After about 30 feet I realized it wasn't going to stop spinning anytime soon so I let out of it

I told you that you would love the big DV's!! Awesome punch, huh? I love how they make the bottom end really snappy and solve some of those spool-up issues!! I couldn't believe how much of a difference they made. Glad to hear they worked out well for you.

OK, I got 3 questions.
1. Are the Nittos bald because you are doing so many burn outs, or are they just wearing more than you expected? I had Nittos on mine, and they lasted 31K, but I feel like I should have gotten more. I did NO burnouts with them.

2. On these DV's, you are running stock injectors?

3. Will I see a similar effect installing these DV's on a 96, with the lower HP engine, stock injectors bumped timing (16.5), custom 10-100 plate, and 3KGSK?

Thanks,
Chris

1. Nittos are mainly because of my driving style.. I don't let up on the throttle but I don't make a habit of burnouts either..

2. With these DVS, I am running stock injectors.

3. I would think so.. I am running 16º timing and a 100 plate with 3KGSK

Glad o see you are having a lot of fun with your Dodge. I wish I could apply some of your mods to my 91. I got to get it on a dyno first to get a baseline. Good seeing you at Indy too.

Stamey,

FWIW, big DV's add a lot of low end punch even with stock injectors.....but the truck does get smokey.

I just heard that from another fellow. I wonder about that. I am trying to keep the smoke down a bit. With my 24v I can turn the box down, but whatever I do to this 12v will ALWAYS be there. Are we talking freight train until the turbo spools up, then it clears up, or worse?

Thanks,
Chris

I actually find that smoke is easier to control with my right on my 12v than it is with the Comp cranked on my 24v.....that said, with stock injectors, it isn't freight train smoke and the turbo will clear it up QUICKLY......you will only get a large huff of black when you stop on it off idle.......Now, with 370's, well, that is another story - it is smokey down low when you foot is heavy......the valet switch kit may help clear some of that up. I don't have one but have heard from others that it really works well to cut down on the low boost smoke when engaged.

What about screwing the AFC back to where it is supposed to be? I can handle it not taking off like crazy, since I usually spool up (power brake) before taking off if I'm racing, anyway.

Thanks,
Chris
