Running Boards/Step Bars

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I'm apparently not putting the correct words into the search block. What kind of running boards do you have, do you like them and do you have pictures?

I'd like to hear the goods, bads and others. Thanks!

Re:Running Boards/Step Bars

Search on Running Boards and Nerf Bars will both give you a lot of fodder to chew on. Also: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=18274

Re:Running Boards/Step Bars

Hey Joel,
I've got Nasta's, which I bought from www.nerfbarfactory.com. They're high polished stainless, and all the mounting hardware is stainless too. Good price. My only gripe is that there are support struts going from the main bracket back to the rocker panel for additional support, and I'd rather not have anything touching the rocker panels. I'll just keep an eye on them under there and keep spraying rustproofing up inside. I'll post some pic's tomorrow. Bryan

Re:Running Boards/Step Bars

Hear is my take, I've never been a running board fan, just don't like the look. I like the nurf bars, they don't seem to take away from the look of the truck. I have WESTIN signature series, and they still look good after after over 6 years. I would stick to a name brand, and go with the stainless steel if you can. I had a different truck and went through 3 sets in 5 years, two were replaced under warranty, but still was a pain in the as*. Buy it right once, and forget about it.

Re:Running Boards/Step Bars

I like my Grizzly double-bends--they drop down a bit further than most bars. They're not stainless is the only somewhat bad part, but the plating seems to be pretty good on them. I've had two sets on different Dodges and had no rust problems at all. I just try to clean them off fairly regularly. If you scroll down on this page you can see them on the CTD:

Click on the miscellaneous photos link and there are some photos of them on my 98 1500, along with a close-up of one of the mounting brackets. They come with longer cab mount bolts.

Hey Joel,
I posted some pic's in the member photos section in my file, hope they help some. I have a vague idea how to get them here, but I'm pretty spastic when it comes to this kind of stuff. I'll try anyway.

Re:Running Boards/Step Bars

Check out Westin's web site. I purchase a pair of Westin oval nerf bars for my 2500 ext. cab for ~ $300. The larger diam. tube and chrome finish looks great. They are aluminum and carry a lifetime warr. Install was easy and they seem strong. So far so good but they are only about 2 months old.
