Replacement exhaust system

When it comes to replacing my exhaust system sometime, I would like to use the larger diameter pipe (like at the tail pipe) all the way back. I don't necessarily want a louder muffler though. How much of a difference would it make to go with the larger pipe and staying with the same muffler type?

Recently installed system myself and had the same concerns. Got advice to try RPM Outlet .com and was not disappointed with price or sound. All tubing 14 guage and flow thru muffler not unduly loud. Somehow during the install I lost my Cat.

replacement exhaust

coastal_diesel,

Go with a complete exhaust system either stainless or aluminum. Cost is the factor here.

I went with the SS. Then I bought the bigger turbo & 4" downpipe.

It doesn't come in SS. HINT !!!

The complete MBRP i installed was very easy to put on. The sound coming out the tail pipe is mellow. Yes I do have a flow thru muffler & it isn't loud at all.

Remember to get the BHAF to allow the engine to breath in. Then let the exhaust do its job. This will lower your EGT's.

Now if you want to move the fuel plate forward---YES.

I would get the 3,000 gov & afc spring kits for better responce. Of course, better performance will be the benefit as well.

Have your timing checked & or moved up to help TOO.

Then enjoy the hills.

Wayne

Yes 4" all the way from front to back, thats the way to go. As for sound, its fine in he cab, if you like to hit the gas ALL the time then it' going to be loud, if you drive normal, you wont notice it very much. I second the BHAF

You wan't a 4 inch turbo to tailpipe system. Most of the noise generated from the system will be at the tailpipe so it shouldnt bug you too much in the cab
