recieved jake/mopar exhaust brake
Wife says it's here. Bought an exhaust brake off e-bay last week. Sure hope it is worth it. Anyone know if it comes with a switch on the gear shifter? And how they hook electrically into the truck. I hear that when you let off the accelerator pedal when turned on they close the flapper valve. Is this model, Jacobs/mopar fairly good? Paid 700.00 for the kit new in the box.
Thanks

If it is the cummins E-brake I would say it is ok, and a good deal. That is the one I've been wanting, but I have to get the heavier valve springs along with it. When I asked the Cummins dealership( 4 years ago ) they said it would cost me 1,200 to get the break and have it installed, along with the valve springs, if I joined the local Cummins power boosters club, wich I plan on doing. The member dues for the club are $50.00 which is a one time fee and I would be a member for life. This would get me a 10 % discount on all parts and labor from the cummins dealer. I don't know, mabey this does'nt help at all. Well I had some beers and was trying to be sociable. Well, good luck with your new purchase, and your tour over there. And by the way thank you!
no shifter switch. toggle in the dash. Get a two speed axle switch ( got my off a school bus, just dont get caught)
and it hooks to the emc ( I think that's what they call it) under the fuel filter to get it's info. from the truck. Works best when you keep the rpm up.

Using a Pac Brake on my 92 5spd. It has a micro switch on the accelerator and a toggle switch on the dash. I tow a 10,000 lb travel trailer and have put over 50k miles on the truck towing. It is the only way to go when coming down a long grade. Black mountain here in NC is a 9% grade for about 4 miles I rarely touch the brakes.
