Rear winch bumper
I'd like to install a rear winch. I've looked at the Reunel website. That bumper looks good but seems "overbuilt" I don't plan on hauling any 20,000 lb bumper pull trailers.

Here's what I want: I'd like a rear step bumper that conceals a 15,000 lb electric winch and retains the factory receiver hitch.

I'm not sure the Reunel can retain the factory hitch. It seems heavier than necessary and also seems way over priced to me. What do you guys think?
Re:Rear winch bumper
The Reunel uses the same frame holes as the factory hitch, so it must be removed to facilitate it's mounting (wanna buy a slightly used hitch?
). A receiver plate can be purchased for $100 that mounts immediately under the bumper with 2 humongous bolts and nuts. When not being used, it can be removed. The hitch, stainless skin, and holes for back-up lights, will run around $750, plus add another $120 for shipping. The things is rediculously over designed.......but I love mine. ;D

Re:Rear winch bumper
When did you get yours? Their website lists that bumper at $1500.00 not including "accessaries," like the hitch. How much does it weigh (approximately)?

Anyone else know of someone that would custom build a bumper?
Re:Rear winch bumper
Mine is not a winch bumper. But, the one you would want is the Double Channel Steel, $1000 with the stainless overlay, $150. I think that includes the receiver too. It comes standard with a black power coat if you don't want the stainless skin. Give them a call, the sales people are very friendly and helpful. BTW, I think the weight of mine is around 150 lbs.

Re:Rear winch bumper
FYI, Layne at www.denveroffroad.com is going to design and build an aluminum hidden winch bumper for the rear of my 2500. I'll keep you posted, if interested.
Re:Rear winch bumper
Sounds good. Layne haas been planning a rear bumper for some time, but I haven't seen anything. He very slow and methodical, so be prepared to wait. Here's a picture of the Reunel receiver plate bolts I was talking about.
