rear posi

Just wondering if anyone has tried a Detroit trutrac. I am a died in the wool Detroit Locker fan but am moving up to NE Wa and now am concerned about others driving my truck with ice conditions there. Don't want to plumb for a air locker and trutrac looks like the only alternative. Dana 80 rear, now open. Also thanks for all the great info avaliable on this great site. New dodge owner, love it , and I think I,m bitten by the bomb bug!!!!

There is only one choice for a CTD, IMO - a Dana Powr-Lok......it is the strongest and most reliable posi you can buy. If you do a search in this forum, you will find tons of reading on the subject of Powr-Loks and CTD's.

definately What CTD Nut said. i lived in montana the last 7 years. nothing like driving on black ice or ice after a freezing rain in NE washington with a detroit. It suddently opens your eyes and puckers your ....... hole .

Power Lok all the way, i changed over to Ploks and offroad, on ice and in the snow they worked flawlessly and i had em front and rear. no issue with driveability nor predictability

enjoy

Thanks for the info. I was under the impression that power loks were hard to come by unless you get them from dodge. I try to stay away from the dealer!!
Thanks
bear

Reider racing. its basically a dana 70HD power lok with the modifications done to it to make it fit a d80. DO NOT order a factory Power-lok, the dummies have a number that is considered the service replacement for the original power lok. what it is is abolt together Trac-lok, dana spicer will argue with you to when they send you one that the trac-lok is better, and then you have to fight to return the thing because its not what you ordered and they say its just as good.

anyways as to the trac-lok

i have yet to be convinced.

I'm looking to cure some of my ignorance here.

How do you know if you have psi trac differentials. Is there a code to look up or what?

Look at the tag in the glove box and see if it says anti-spin or limited slip.

Or you could jack up the rear of the truck and spin a wheel:

Both wheels turn the same direction = posi

Wheels turn opposite directions = open differential (no posi)

That only works in the later 24 valve's.
Earlier they put a sticker under the hood which didn't last very long.
