Hi, I plan to come to southern wisconsin and pulling with the badger pullers, should be a good time!

The furthest south I pulled last year, in Wisconsin, was at West Bend. I also pulled in Fon Du Lac.
The pull in Yorkville IL was a lot of fun too.

Thanks for the input so far..

Still waiting for an answer on the DRW rear axles.. Can those be used as SRW or is it a pain in the butt?

If the wheel mounting surface to WMS is the same, and the spring perch mounting is the same you can use it.

You could use a DRW D80 but the WMS is wider than a SRW but the SRW wheels will bolt on. If you came across one, a cab and chassis DRW D80 might fit the bill since it is closer to the WMS width of a SRW.

Dana 80 is only a .5" bigger ring gear. Its an 11" versus the 10.5" Dana 70.

But as mentioned, both have the 35 spline 1.5" shafts

The big superdutys, like 450/550s have the 37 spline axles. But the metric bolt pattern.

I would agree with these guys and say just upgrade the shafts, and I doubt you will break the ring gear.

All we did was upgrade shafts and it's been fine so far.

I'm not hurting anything then by leaving it together until I break a shaft, right?

You think at 500RWHP and truck pulling without letting out of the throttle EVER I wouldn't break the ring and pinion?
I'd think it'd shatter when it hops..

We haven't broken it yet, and have hopped real bad a couple of times. I have only one speed while pulling....Through the floor.

I saw a couple of 70's grenade this year. Both times the pinion sheared. The difference in size between a 70 and 80 pinion is pretty big.

Agreed, don't be fooled by the 1/2" difference in ring gear size......the rest of the components in the D80 are massive compared to the D70. The D80 pinion, pinion and carrier bearings and the carrier itself are much larger and capable of handling much higher torque loading than the D70.

The F-superduty trucks only came in 2wd (still had asolid front axle though), and ran a 37 spline d80 rear. But they had a 10 lug bolt pattern, not the standard 8. May as well just get a 37 spline carrier and axles and through them in the dodge d80.
