5erBob,

Heard those Mountains of N. FL were the result of ants working their queen. One while of "Ghost" will flatten them out. What you need is to take Calif-120 west from US-395 from Lee Vining. That will put "Ghost" towin 5er to the test. Goin to AK after that would be all down hill after that. Watch out for that guy coming at ya with the Knife.

Boss H,

Had to make emergency run up I-5 yesterday p.m. in Williams, CA, 120 miles from here. Diesel #2 was down to $1.559/g. Before prices started up was buyin for $1.399. ;D Highest I had to pay in March was $1.869. :'(

Re:RamAir III test results

Paid 1.54 for fillup the other day. Hope the RamAir will help mileage a little bit - - don't have enough miles on it to see and it is so variable anyway. It should with how it helped breathing and accelleration. We need some fuel cells - - fooey on this dependency on Arab oil - - disgusting.

OnTheBoxBob,

In 2000 while we were in Valdez we heard similar stories. "A stupid drunk ship captain" should not have been blamed for the Oil Spill. The locals had expected it to happen because the state had tried to keep the AK State cost low. After the spill the legislators adopted remedial legislation to prevent another similar disaster. These three sources believe the Captain was a convenient "scapegoat" for the negligent politicians.

Most locals we talked to said "drunk ship captain" did the state a favor for the following reason, he was captain of a ship owned by a company with deep pockets and hence able to immediately spend $Millions to start cleanup and carry through to the end. Other companies would have just filed Chapter 11 and bailed out. The fact that they had no means of containing a spill in the area was criminal negligence on the part of the state. Spills will continue to happen but the damage can now be limited because the equipment to contain and clean-up a spill is in place.

SO IT IS TIME TO HEAD NORTH ALASKA AND DRILL, DRILL, DRILL!!!!!!!! D__N THE TREE HUGGERS, FULL SPEED AHEAD!!! ;D

Actually, most people don't know that the 2nd officer was piloting the ship, and once aground, Cpt. Hazlewood did a remarkable job of keep the ship from completely grounding and breaking apart, which would have been a disaster far worse than what happened. As it goes, however, someone had to be the scapegoat for the politicians and corporate execs, and that leaves the man in charge, the captain, as the sacrifice.

You got it, Diesel Dog. Re:RamAir III test results

Interesting facts there, Mr. Sierra Man. It is a dirty shame we have to learn everything the hard way. Again, too many times people only worry about putting the fur around their pocket and let everyone else pay for their negligence while they roll in the millions. Hey, ya'll got me started again - - stop it.

Alaska - - hey, maybe a bunch of us need to go together and buy some acres just for the DTR gang - - put in some RV sites with elec and water. Gotta be on a nice river with good fishing, some canoes, mosquito sirens, bear chasers - - hummmm. We could call the Land of the DTronians. We will volunteer to be the camp host/hostess (comes with free camping and only one hour work per day).

OffDreaminBoutAlaskaBob

OffDreaminBoutAlaskaBob,

Maybe we could have a Rally and a 100+ CTDs could escort them drillers up to the FAR North, volunteer our services as security for them to start suckin that black gold out of "mother earth", keep them "green blooded tree huggers" away. Of course we'd get to fish bout 20 hrs a day.

ItchinToTravelNorthPhil

P.S. Super Suck-o-Meter Report.
SSoM read 65% the other day removed filter. Cleaned off crud and acorn shells with compressed air. Reinstalled after 200 freeway miles it read 35% again. Filter now has 14,000 miles on it. One of these days that squirrel is gonna be caught nappin in my Air-Box

Re:RamAir III test results

FishyBob,

Squirrel Repellant our resident Silver Fox, before stomach is full.

A fishy tale for FishyBob. In 2000 we lucked out. We found that Wife's Cousin who lived in Kenai manages LoomisFargo Office there. Koomis Fargo had chartered a boat for halibut fishing they had two spaces to fill. We reported to the Shenandoah in Seward at 7:30 am. Cost $70 each. (Going rate for halibut fishing charter $165 per person) We departed southeast from Seward. After three hours at sea we dropped anchor and dropped our lines in that order. Two of the fisherpersons dropped their cookies instead of lines. After 90 minutes only two lines were hit and two nice 70-75# halibut had been raised from 270 ft, brought on board and had their attitudes adjusted with a baseball bat. :'(

The captain weighed anchor and said, "we're headed to where everyone will get their limit. After 30 minutes neaded south anchor was dropped again. 26 lines went over the rail, two were still chucking cookies. In about 10 minutes the first sucker, halibut hit. Then for the next hour there was some sucker taking a hook every minute. It was a struggle to bring a 60#er from 260 feet to the surface. When gaffed and on board I grabbed the bat and adjusted that halibut's attitude quickly. after rebating my hook down it went to find another sucker. Ten minutes I had anonter hooked. It was much slower bringing the 2nd one up, Fisherman Phil was getting too pooped to pop. this one was a 40 pounder. By this time the deck was so slippery and so many halibut flopping around everyone was yelling for the bat. At one time there were 12 halibut on deck with bad attitudes needing the bat. After 56 halibut wer safely in the locker, the Captain said, 'let's head for port, everybody has their limit." Due to the generosity of those who landed one beyond thir limit, the up chuckers were spared the embarassment of returning Halibutless.

On the trip to port the deck hands filleted everyone's catch and placed the fillets in plastic bags. Our halibut fillets weighed over 60 #. We docked at 7:30 pm.

At our trailer we worked till 9:30 cutting up fillets and packaging them. We packed our freezer with halibut and still had 10# of fillet to take to wife's cousin in Kenai for barbeque halibut dinner the next evening.

We ate halibut every evening until there was room in the freezer for a nice steak,

This next trip we are removing a recliner and in it's place will be a 5 cu ft chest freezer for the bountiful catches we intend to bring home. :-*

:-X :-X (ooooppppsss, now someone will start on me for not being friendly to the wild animals).

FishyBob,

If they get on your case, I'm next in line. We have a family in the Oak near our bedroom window. These winged red headed featherted critterrs have near lost the pea brains they had when hatched. Anything that turns their beak into a jackhammer on Metal, Glass, Rocks, and even Asphalt had shaken out the original gray matter after a couple of days. For sure they have evolved to where they don't have the need to hollow out trees anymore since the other objects make variety of interesting sounds.

I couldn't resist any longer. Placed a shell in my 20 ga. woodpecker eradicater. I took aim at 25 feet. Feathers were flying everwhere as he did his last swan dive to "mother earth". Foxy our neighborhood undertaker came during the night and removed the remains. Today all is quiet as the morning brothers and sisters have departed to morn :'( the tasty meal for Brother fox. :-*

Re:RamAir III test results

I had just received my RamAir III system toady and I ran it a few times. I don't have the results to post like others but I did notice a decrease in the EGTs. Between 25-30 degrees. I wish I would have had this going through the mountains last weekend towing my trailer. The install was very easy and it looks sharp. Has any one else noticed their "filter minder" being sucked all the way to 100%? I think it may have done that when I mashed the peddle to the floor. If any one is thinking about a SCotty 3, do it, looks pretty mean ;D under the hood.
