Exclamation Question for you guys with shift kits.

Just had my auto rebuilt. heavy duty low stall converter, heavy duty clutch packs..etc. I also had a shift kit put in the valve body. everythings good but when it shifts from first to second..it doesnt do so until about 2k rpm's. is this normal? i have no idea, ive never driven anything with a shift kit. thanks guys

That can be adjusted a little. Mine shift late and hard until the trans gets good and warm. I know I picked up about a mile a gallon better after the trans was built. Little to no slippage now. Bangs into gear and just keeps pullin.

Oh yea it definantly pulls a lot harder. Doesn't feel like the trans is slippin at all. And the 2-3 shift will throw you back in the seat. But if I'm drvin easy it will shift into second at about 1900-2000 if I'm on it hard it will rumn up to about 2500. But the trans is definantly in better shape and not slippin

To tell you the truth I have no idea. I can only assume it is. I've been talking to a few other guys hear localy and from what they say the rpm its shifting at is acceptable. I guess its just something I'm gonna have to get used to. Maybe I can check it myself...whats the kick down cable look like? What I'm a lookin for? How do I adjust it? Thanks guys

One other thing, is there any type of break in period for a rebuilt tranny? Or should I just let her eat?

The lowest rpm my recent Goerend trans will shift is 1600 rpm from 1st to 2nd. Thats being very gental on the throttle.

Well with all the good things I've heard about daves trannys....I don't feel so bad about my tranny shifting like that. I wish I had the coin to drop on one of daves trannys
