Cut an intercooler boot or put a garbage bag over your air filter. Other than that, you're gonna have to pay some cash for smoke.
A better idea would be to invest in upgrading fuel system so you don't kill your injection pump. Depending on how much coin you have, I'd pick up a full assortment of gauges (pyro, boost, fuel pressure), look into getting a holley fuel pump, fass, airdog, etc. If you have cash after that, then look into the fun stuff, like stacks or a fuel box.

if your going to do duel stack just go to a diesel performance site and buy them there. but if your doing a single just get a muffler or 36 inches of pipe. a foot of flex pipe a 90 degree pipe and a stack and the clamps and hangers. i did mine for under 200 bucks and all the piping underneath my truck is chrome. but with the smoke... theres no such thing as cheap smoke. the cheapest box is probably the powerpuck or edge ez or a set of huge injector nozzles but then your egts are going to be way out of check... just do all the steps in the correct order. gauges intake exhaust fuel pump tranny performance programmer turbo injectors and by the time thats all done you will look like a mobile forest fire cruising down the highway. but if you realy want easy smoke keep the stock intake and never clean it strait pipe your exhaust and unplug the map sensor. smokes like crazy and its a thick nasty cloud too. i hope that helps

fuel system upgrade and at least a fuel pressure gauge first. Your vp44 HO is lubed and cooled by fuel. If fuel pressure get below 5psi then you are gunna hurt your vp. The stock lift pumps are crappy and know to just quite on you, if you run it very long like that your vp will go out next ( lots of $$$$$$$). It's just easier and cheaper to go ahead and address this problem now. Fass, PPE, Airdog, Holy Blue are all lift pumps that will give you the fuel pressure needed to keep the vp happy.

oh and these things are money pits!! Unless you have a 12v then most everything will cost money. A truck that smokes a lot is just wasting fuel, money, and possible power. If tuned right you should smoke slightly while under no boost, then when turbo spools it should clean up. Smoke doesn't mean power or fast.
I agree with you to a certain extent. In a street truck it should smoke a little until the turbo lights. But some trucks push so much fuel (ie. Drag or pulling trucks) that they will never clear the smoke up. In an everyday truck you definately don't want your truck to be smoking like a train when your turbo is lit though.
well your going to be basically spending most of that 4300 as the average well built(Hot Rod) VP44 is around 2K and im sure replacing the lift pump with a like a Fass or a Airdog is around 6-700
i have a bully dog pump and it was around 350 bucks for everything. the pump says holly on it so i think its a holly pump with bully dogs name on it. that and a good lift pump should be plenty. or the fass and all those are awesome as well... im just saying ive had my bullydog pump for 2 years with no problems. gets all the fuel i need to the stock SO vp44 with 130000 miles on it. i didnt spend half as much on my fuel system as a lot of poeple and im putting up the same numbers on the dyno as people with f1 mach 4 injectors adrenaline boxes and phat shaft turbos but spent half the money. my only regret is not getting stage 5 jammers and a gt32 turbo with a e.d external wastegate. and i wouldve liked to have the money for a full billet georend transmission
Cause i found the banks big boss. i wanted the 6 gun tuner but since i have the isb cummins they dont have one. Im gonna look through some bully dog stuff to cause its alot of pretty cheap and easy power
