Question pump calibration/setup?

hey guys,
i am taking my pump in to be rebuilt and calibrated keeping the parts in my sig. i need the shop to set it up for daily driving and lots of heavy towing(mountains) to gain the best fuel mileage and egt control. let me know some ways to have it set up or things they should do/add while they have it off before calibration(stiffer afc spring, timming, plate position, afc position)
Thanks for any thoughts/ideas , Mark

I would have the plunger/barrels recalibrated for maximum fueling. You can then "de-tune" the pump by positioning the fuel plate/AFC. There is an AFC spring kit that is an easy add-on later if you decide. It is an easy DIY project. Lets the boost come up alittle more before heavy fueling.

You've already the GSK and fuel plate. I think if you added different DV's you might run into heat problems at higher altitude.

I'd just change the fuel specs then tune it the way you want with the fuel plate and AFC.

paul,
i think this pump has the 12mm barrels, do you know what they flow stock and what i can get out of them? i was thinking to have the pump shop install the heavy spring in the afc since it will be apart. what do you think my hp/tq will be after the rebuild? thanks for the response. Mark

I know that my pump was turned up to 433 cc's of fuel from the stock 180+.

Some have equated 1 cc fuel = 1 hp if you can burn it.

The 433 cc's was before the laser cut DV's and rack travel was at about 18 - 19 mm. This is not the maximum rack travel. You could easily get over 500 cc's (500 HP) of fuel from the pump with a #0 plate, DV's, GSK. I would have them turn the pump up as much as possible with the plate slid forward. You can then always move the plate back to control fueling.

Have them record the fueling levels at idle and full rack travel. You can then estimate 1hp for ever cc of fuel. It will give you a place to start. Let us know how much they can squeeze out of the pump.

where should they set the timming for towing and with a stock head gasket?
the pump guy said they would retourque the head/valve adjust and set timming 17-18. is that to much timming? Mark

15.5 on the timing.

More than that and you are flirting with danger. I've seen guys use more but in my shop that's my recomendation if you want to stay on the safe side.
