Pulling side molding on a 97... what to do?
There are several threads on debadging. I would start with thoose as there are 20 dozen different ways to go about it.(fishing line, heat gun etc...) Some say the goop will rub off with your thumb, others say to use something like goo-be-gone or goof off. Other than that as long as the rest of the paint has been taken care of any fading should be minimal and disappear with a good buffing.
The fading on mine was minimal, not even noticable really unless you look really closely.
I pulled it off, used a hairdryer and plastic scraper to get the bulk of the glue residue off, washed it and need to go back with goo-gone to get the last of it... It's an easy job, I've done it to many trucks.

Its a royal pain, but the best way I found was to slice the leading edge so you can get a grip then pull it up with a little heat from a heat gun. The goop comes off if you heat it gently and push it with your thumb. Some trim has metallized adhesive strips on the back which will make the trim deform if you really tug on it. I just removed the strips with a heat gun and it straightened out.
i pulled em off my gf's truck and i ended up using fishing line, a razor blade and laquer thinner. trick is not to leave the laquer thinner on there for very long, but it does remove the adhesive really really fast!
