Pullers, I need some help.

I'm now running the anual Truck Pull here in Lanesville and I'm trying to get an 8,000lb open class started but I've met some opposition on the new Class.

The board is wanting the trucks to run Clutch Blankets, and Air Shut Off's. My question is do these things even exist for the Dodges and Fords? The Board is worried about spectator safety, and I don't blame them but I really don't see were the danger is any greater than a Super Farm or Pro Stock tractor with all the safety equipment they run.

I mainly need some info to take the the Board for the next meeting. If you guys are running some of the the safety equipment what kinds are you running? and how many others you know that pull are running them?

Thanks for all the help.

DB

I ran a diverter valve for my fuel, like the kind they use in mechanical injection on blowers. Like a gate valve with a bypass circut.
I'm also making a gate valve.

Re:Pullers, I need some help.

With the power some of those trucks have, common sense should tell the driver to run the bomb blankets. At least if they want to be able to walk later in life. Seen it several times in drag racing, where someone loses a foot due to a clutch or automatic transmission internal explosion.

P.S. The clutch blankets are universal. They are just a heavy blanket that wraps arund the bellhousing to contain a clutch explosion.

Re:Pullers, I need some help.

Wow! not many pullers on this site is there.

Well it looks like if you're running a twin turbo set up you're going to have to have the clutch blanket and some sort of Kill switch, weather it be air shut off or fuel shut off. Also going to have to have at least 2 driveshaft loops per shaft.

Sorry but that's the way it's going to be, we've got to think of the safety for the workers, crowds, and most of all the drivers.

After my final meeting in April I will post the time's and date of the pull. You've got plenty of time to get the equipment installed it's not till September.

On other thing for those of you thinking of getting started into pulling you might as well by the safety equipment because several of the promoters I talked with said it will soon me manditory for all trucks over 450hp.

DB

Re:Pullers, I need some help.

Brandon has a deal with them that he is the only puller in California, that can get Ohio parts.

Try again. After the last three days of server trouble here, I don't have a lot of faith in e-maill, anymore.
